Oil Change at 1000 miles, cost = $254. Is this right?

Took my TRD ORP for break-in oil change at my cost at Toyota Walnut Creek in California. Was shell shocked at the cost $254.21. Apparently they now use a 0W8 oil at $21/quart for 6 quarts and $103 for labor plus filter cost. This seems crazy expensive. What are others paying for oil change and filter?

You can do it yourself for less than half that cost. $21/qt is robbery.

My dealership here in Baltimore charged me 95 as it wasn't on maintenance schedule. 254 is BONKERS

That's way high. My dealership in Gorham, NH charged me $95 as well.
But as SouthCoast pointed out it's easy to do yourself. Unlike the Gen 5 these have a simple screw on filter that's easy to get to from underneath.

Straight up scammed. I bought 6qts of Pennzoil Platinum for $46, and an OEM filter for a few bucks more. Anything more than $100 if you bring it somewhere to be done is highway robbery.

The manual says this. I'd go back and have them replace w/ 0W20 and then give you a partial refund.

lol I got a coupon and made a friend out of my service advisor and paid like $80 for my 1k oil change.

$95 at a dealer, no coupon, Toyota Oil and filter. You got ripped. I would return, have them replace with the correct oil. Ask what part number was used for the oil filter (only use Toyota). Did they replace the drain plug gasket?

I would also request at least 50% of that money back and NEVER use them again.

If they will not change the price and you paid with a credit card, file a dispute as the work was done incorrectly. You will get a credit back and take it somewhere else to fix.

I used Hagins Automotive in Martinez for my recent 1K oil change, and I paid $100. Walnut Creek isn't too bad on some parts cost, but I would hesitate to service there. Hanlee's in Richmond is good, but slow. I want to give Concord business, but their cost on some parts makes me run for the door. However, I will try my free 10K and 20K with them. Until then, I'm staying with Hagin's on Alhambra.

Oil is $45 a case and filter is $6. It also looks like they used 0w-8 and spec is 0w-20

I believe that 0W8 is for a Prius and hybrids. Small
