interesting you're seeing such a drop in mpg on the highway. I know this is a "non" hybrid question, by my orp hybrid regularly gets 23+ on the highway at ~70 with the motor always on. I have the roof rack as well but hear zero wind noise. I'm in eco most of the time, but really haven't noticed...
More than likely, it will brick and throw a warning to contact a dealer. Unfortunately, the hybrid uses the battery pack to start the ICE. If you lose the hybrid battery, you can't drive the vehicle. The only option/workaround is the multi-switch option which installs a dedicated alternator...
Assume the dealer WILL put add-ons on the vehicle before you get there. They will overprice them and expect you to shell out for stuff they say “we can’t take it off since it’s a coating/film/whatever”. You could call them and request no addons, but it’s hit or miss if they actually comply.
yes, it matters, and if any amount of simple research had been done, you'd understand why... But, if you're objective is simply to disagree with the assumption that removing wear metals and manufacturing debris from the oil is a good idea, then you're doing a good job.
I changed my oil earlier today and specifically asked chatgpt for this very value. it came back with 18ft lbs. I don't have a torque wrench that goes down that far so I simply went with my built in wrist wrench. seems to work
Depends. If you have an issue where Toyota has to inspect the motor, and can validate a viscosity change outside the technical specs allowed, they can/may deny/void warranty service. So, it depends on your risk tolerance.
It’s definitely a conundrum. If it’s simply a matter of ECU programming, is it possible to reprogram for the use of alternative weight oils. If so, how is that going to affect warranty claims, etc.?
Regarding the GM example, they also indicated it was a manufacturing defect and the switch to a thicker oil was essentially a bandaid, not a fix. It was “cheaper” to change the oil and give a warranty than it was to change thousands of engines…
My brother had this exact scenario occur. They...
$2500 in scam junk. Almost never go with dealer applied protection of any kind. They either don't put it on at all, don't put it on correctly, or it's complete garbage of a product. Not to mention, they're probably charging 10x what it costs...
Yes, it does, but It mentions nothing about changing the hot oil temperature viscosity from 20 to 30 though. While changing to a 5W 20 may not incur warranty void instances, I would be surprised that OEM would not take that opportunity to say this is on the owner just in order to not pay for a...
