Came here to say this - transmission overheating in 4H is pretty common on a slow speed climb. This is why 4L exist.If you're driving up a steep incline that requires 4wd, and doing so at a slow speed, you should be in 4Lo. This will dramatically increase the mechanical advantage of moving the vehicle, and the torque convertor won't slip as much, which can lead to overheating the transmission fluid.
I'd say this was more driver error than anything.
