i bought mine in Oklahoma, it required nothing extra from me. I had an OK temp tag and my and my Texas tags were mailed to the dealer, then dealer sent them to me. If taxes are paid and registration is paid, you're good.
i had the same question and asked sherpa. This is their response to me. i opted to shift the rack rearward a bit to minimize the gap and reduce wind noise. I did also ask them if the rack would compress under full load, and it will not. Once installed, it will not move.
Very cool! I'll be doing the same thing at the end of October. Looking to cross from NM to CO offroad, pit stop in breck for two days then offroad back to Dallas (as much as possible).
Got to play with the new carplay this morning,. Very cool. I did notice a serious improvement to the wireless carplay lag when watching videos. Huge and welcome improvement.

I like the idea of hidden dual battery setup but i'm a no go on air in the cabin. So loud. That compressor belongs under the hood.
Hybrids benefit less from a built in dual battery setup though, considering we have a 2400 watt inverter that can charge a power station super fast.
I went with Sherpa and I've been very happy with it. The design is solid and the aesthetics are very nice. Its low profile w/o being so tight that you can't install an RTT. The customer service w/ sherpa has been fantastic also. not crazy heavy and very robust. Solid as a rock.

fine question:
For me - it’s a super quick and easy setup that also carries an extra layer of fun and cool factor. It sleeps my wife, 2 kiddos and me very comfortably. The family enjoys camping much more with the RTT. Sleeping on top of the runner is cool!
It also gets us off the ground so we...
1 - I am an RTT fan boy but its important to start out by saying, spending money on an RTT to "start overlanding and camping" is NOT necessary. Get a ground tent and cot so you can decide if this is something you even want to do. RTT are expensive no matter how you slice it.
2 - What is your...
Hey y'all!
Huge shout out to Kevin with NTX Overland for planning this trip. We spent Saturday, Sunday and Monday off-roading and camping in the Ozarks. We ran portions of the Overland adventure trail and the high water mark trail. Thankfully most of the water crossings were pretty low even...
I need to start tracking mine too - i'm averaging 19 mpg but my range only calcs to 305 generally - which means the tank is holding back about 3 gallons and could actually go about 360 miles
