Mine is a Land Cruiser 250 with the same drivetrain. Could not find a thread there so here is my info
Transfer Case: All wheel drive
Transmission Shifter Position: “D”
Drive Mode: Normal then sport as I saw the temp climb
Vehicle Speed: 15-40mph Regular twisty road non gravel, slow/go due to...
I am susre it is in there somewhere. I know on the Land Cruiser I had to selected from a menu under the settings for the cluster. Basically you have to select from a list of things what you want the cluster to show through the diffrent pages.
By the way, without the gauge, you would never...
I am not familiar with your cluster. But most Toyotas clusters have a digital cluster that you can set up to view diferent things. It should be within the options when you navigate through it or you can set it up using the setup menu
I do not disagree. But in paved roads?? That would be pretty unsafe. Last time I had a civic or Mazda, they did not have a 4lo and they were able to go up paved hwy climbs at lower speeds (20-45mph) without ever moving the tranny temp needle. ;)
Agree with you, the more people come forward the better. What I have found out is that a lot of people are in denial and keep saying to just put it in Manual Shift or 4LO. But when you have honda Civics reaching the top of the summit and you are on the side of the road pretending to look at...
Both. The dealership opened one so they could have Toyota looked at the data and though they found the torque converter slipping and the temperatures were high, they still said it did what it supposed to do and therewas no risk of damage or any problems. So I opened one with Toyota and was the...
I had a case open with Toyota and they were not very nice at all. They said after analyzing the data from the dealership and what I had sent, they determine these to be normal operating conditions and the transmission never overheated it just gave me a warning, so the case was closed. This is...
I am glad yours is not having the issue, that means is not an issue with all. I use CarScanner with a bluetooth OBDII reader and use carplay to projected on my screen live. On the picture below you can see the tranny temp at 240F after a twisty climb on a paved HWY with lots of slow down and go...
I should not have to add anything to a vehicle that is marketed as an offroad vehicle so that I could go hilly twisty roads that Priuses, Civics, Subarus and all other regular cars out there can do without even going over 190F on their tranny. Maybe if my vehicle had 200K miles, I would. But...
Are you switching to Manual mode when in dirt raod climbs or you just leave it on Drive?
I noticed that if I switch to Manual and keep it reved up between 1st and 2nd it does fine, but I should not be doing that on paved HWY roads regardless of the climb or speeds.
When on high speeds or...
Maybe I just need to drive my wife's Prius, since she was driving her car up to Idylwild too and her tranny temps were below 200F by the end of the drive and mine was 240F. Both cars unloaded (actually hers had my 2 daughters)
4LO in a paved road would be very unsafe. Is not just off road that is happening is also happening on steep slow HWY climbs up mountains (For me Idylwid, CA and Desert to Julian ,CA). Paved twisty roads. I have had other 4x4's for over 30 years and had never had to angaged 4lo in a paved...
A lot of the vehicles with this Power Train (8 speed tranny with iforcemax and possibly just the 8 speed with Turbo too) are having teh same issue. I also think that the ones that are not is because they have not been reading the temps or paying attention to the tranny temp gauge (which I founf...
Exact same thing on my 2025 Land Cruiser with the same powertrain. 3800 miles and still is jerky when braking/downshifting. Also experiencing high tranny temps well above 220F all the way to 250F on slow climbs as other 4runners, Tacomas and LC's have reported.
Almost the exact same thing that I am going through with my new 2025 Land Cruiser which has the same powertrain. I agree with you, if enough people report it, hopefully Toyota will do something about it.
