I love my new 4Runner, I really do, but the loud and annoying beeps are driving me crazy. The ones emitted by the back hatch opening or closing or whenever I get out to fetch my mail with my fob in my pocket (and the door closes). I’m literally waking my neighbors whenever I need to access the hatch on early mornings.

How can I stop this? I see no way to do it in the settings menu. Is there a hardware fix? Where is that speaker so I can suppress it with tape or kill it altogether?

According to the manual "The operation buzzer that sounds when the back door begins to operate
cannot be turned off." However, you can apparently change how loud it is. Default is Loud.

Every vehicle with push button start that I've owned would sound a warning if the keyfob leaves the vehicle while it is on. I've never seen a way to turn this off.

I tried Carista. Didn’t find an option to mute the doors, only the seatbelt warning.

I don’t know if the op was asking about liftgate warning beeps but you can adjust the 8 beeps when the vehicle is running and you hop out with the fob. It is in settings on the infotainment screen. Under door beeps i believe

There’s no way to mute the rear cargo area warning beep, I’ve been trying for months. Still trying to find where the piezo is that emits noise back there (and the one up front as well), happy to rip that little thing out once I know where it’s located. I think it’s up under the rear bumper though so not easy to access (intentional I’m sure).

Yeah please let me know when you find it. I wish to do the same.

the random beeps upon locking annoy me the most. leaves me uncertain if something has been left on or open.

You can't mute it, but you can turn it way down. I posted a couple of days ago in this thread. Its in the gauge cluster menu > Vehicle settings > PBD. Can confirm its way less annoying now
