I'm getting ready to do the first oil change for my 6th Gen? I'm curious to hear what brand of motor oil everyone has been using in their 6th Gen 4Runners?

amsoil sig series. Been a long time customer for decades. In fact, my sponsor was Gadget. For those that have been around in the Tacoma forums that name should resonate.

I know that Toyota uses Mobil 1 to procure their oil, but does anybody know which of Mobil 1's offerings is the closest to the Toyota's "blend," i.e. Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy, SUV & Truck, Extended Performance, etc?

Toyota OEM for oil and filters. Many threads have debated this. Its probably more important “when” you change your oil and filter. No more than every 5k. I do 4k

I'm unsure which of Mobil 1 motor oils are closest formulation to Toyota's motor oil. But I heard that the Extended Performance may be more stable for the potential higher temperatures of turbo engines.

Valvoline Restore & Protect, it has me onboard with its technology and past performance test.

We also use 5W30 weight as we are. It convinced with the 0W20 after advice from a master Toyota technician that confirmed same engines outside of North America are using this weight.

Further more we have switched our other vehicle to this oil as well that has 80000km.

Whatever that is on sale. Most of the time Kirkland 0w20
Yep... I love the Kirkland oil and run it in all my rigs.

The best oil is the one you change and at $2.70 a quart when it's on sale I'm not afraid to change it early and often.

Mobile 1 is fine, other reputable brands are fine too as long you go full symthetic and correct weight you can't go wrong. I have used in BMWs, VW's and other turbo engines and changed at 10,000 miles and never had issues with the type of driving conditions I drive in.

I used to use Mobil 1 in my '84 Honda Civic that I bought new, made it to nearly 400,000 miles. Also in my Toyota Sienna I got used, but also almost 400,000 miles (and it was running fine but would not pass smog without significant repair...so excuse to upgrade to my current 4Runner). Now I tend to use Costco/Kirkland synthetic, as I'd guess it is similar but much less expensive. Costco also carries Mobil 1. Right now though I do not believe the Kirkland is available in the recommended 0-20 weight--given more vehicles are using it nowadays I would not be surprised if they did.

At least that is what I will use after the factory warranty oil changes--obviously they use whatever Toyota recommends.

My wife's RAV4 wants 0-16...never seen that one before (but I guess never looked)!

Our other vehicle is a compact SUV and uses 0w-16.

My first few have been Toyota oil but after the next one I will use the same standard Mobile 1 advanced I use in my Chevy truck. Both use 0w20.
