I just got the factory bars (I wanted them, but they also happen to come with the vehicle). I did not personally hear any significant wind noise, but I know there are others here that said they have. They are well-made and strong, and appear to have a decent aerodynamic profile. Of course they...
Fair enough, I have heard those arguments. But, what that does not answer (I don't think it does anyway) is does it matter that those contaminants are there?
I still fail to understand why a very early oil change would be important. I know, the theory is that during the engine break-in period there is more particles worn from the engine which end up in the oil--a reasonable assumption. But what I do not follow is that everyone seems to ignore that...
Personally I think changing oil that early is overkill. Whether 10K is too long is hotly debated (see this forum, there are posts on this). Many say they are changing oil at least every 5000 miles, some more often. Many do at least one change at either 1000 or 5000 (or somewhere in between)...
I have the older version of this (non-replaceable battery, I think a few other minor changes) and it is really good. It really blows that is :-). ProjectFarm on Youtube tested a bunch of these (different brands) and the Wolfbox came out on top both times (old and new version).
Hi @Joe Dirt, I have not used it with the 4Runner yet but will try it when I think of it. I have just been using the app from the manufacturer from the device, seems to work OK. I have not really used it for a lot of things, mostly to check codes and basic monitoring.
I had never known about that hand chain saw...interesting! I would think it would be a royal pita to use...take a long time, lots of hard work. But it seems to get good reviews. @Archer, have you actually used these? If so, can you comment on their use?
I have the Milwaukee M12 (12V) Hatchet...
Someone commented on this somewhere else on this forum. They stated along the same lines--you can choose when to maintain the exact speed or not, so you can let it dip a little uphill but gain a bit more over your desired speed downhill. I am not sure how much of that makes a difference--or how...
My ORP did ot come with it, as others have said I think it is optional on that trim at least. I would never pay the ridiculous price they want for theirs--I can get <$10 flashlights that are probably better. I have not thought of something to put in that space though (I always have a tiny...
Thinner metal and more plastic == lower weight. The "skin" is not a significant part of the safety of the vehicle. I do see the hood flex (bounce up and down) a bit as I drive on occasion, but it does not bother me. I know folks have shown dents with pretty minor force, so that is not great. I...
I was hoping their paint quality has improved, but not sure. I had a friend that had an older 4Runner (I do not recall the year but it was more than 10 years ago) and he said he would never buy another Toyota because of the paint. It did indeed look terrible--I think it may have been the clear...
I asked my dealer which I needed. When they put in my VIN it specified one only. Part number PT228-35247 was the one they specified for my ORP Hybrid and it fit perfectly (tip: if you also install the front skid plate, do the transfer case one first!!). I do suggest, though, having your dealer...
Off the original topic, but related and mentioned here--my understanding is that true beadlocks are not allowed on road. From what I understand it is because if they do fail they fail catastrophically. I could (easily) be wrong...anyone know for sure?
There are other options that are not true...
Idling of course affects MPG some, but I would not expect all that much unless it is a significant percent of the time. Of course the hybrid solves that, it just shuts down when you are not moving unless it has to charge the battery (which is not often as it is normally charged well while you...
I just replied on another thread that I don't generally add stuff just for looks, although this does look pretty cool! For the price I might consider this one (I did admit I might do things that do not cost much). I like the look of the raised letters, but am mildly concerned it is one more...
I am keeping the stock wheels. I do not make changes for aesthetic reasons, at least for significant cost. I happen to prefer the silver border anyway over all black, as I think it has a less plain look. When my tires (not wheels) are worn enough to need replacement I will probably put on...
ORP (hybrid of course). No mods, original Michelin tires. I actually did install skid plates, but only last weekend so they are not in the mix yet as far as mileage :-). I would not expect them to affect MPG noticeably, but will be interesting to see.
BTW, everyone, as a reminder you can see...
I still do not understand why there is such a disparity between the MPG values reported here. I get that a lift and different tires and such will likely affect mileage, but I would not expect the 25% or more difference being reported. Some even report nearly this different with mostly stock...
