I’ve yet to notice anything like this on my 4Runner, but my sprinter leaked oil/melted wax looking stuff from inside body panels. It’s cavity wax in the case of sprinters, maybe something similar for the 4Runners!
I agree SQ satisfies ILSAC 7 and therefore 6A if it is of a viscosity that ILSAC certifies, which 0W-30 is.
But, this bottle doesn’t state the oil satisfies API SQ. It states that it satisfies API SQ engine test requirements, which is a portion of the spec.
I’m not commenting on whether or not...
It's a fine oil, but for those who are wondering:
Meeting/exceeding API S{N,P,Q} engine test requirements does not mean it meets/exceed the full API S{N,P,Q} specification. For example, you can pass engine tests without conforming to the formulation/additive requirements of the specification...
First, there is some confusion here.
All ILSAC GF‑6A oils meet API SP, but not all API SP oils meet GF‑6A. ILSAC takes an API SP–approved product and adds its license only if the oil also meets the resource-conserving/energy-conserving (fuel economy) requirements. So GF‑6A is essentially "API...
There would be
Agreed. Notably, Mobil 1 ESP is not ILSAC GF-6A. Neither licensed nor does it make any claims to meet the spec.
- A licensed (Starburst) GF-6A oil: fully satisfies the manual, and self-documenting if anything goes wrong. Zero downside on the spec question.
- An oil that “meets”...
“Tire inch up mode” column is very interesting… maybe this is how they can adjust for new tire diameters independent of this particular suspension upgrade?
In other threads it’s been implied there is no calibration possible for diameter changes…
UV protection from ceramic is indeed debatable. It's one of the massively oversold marketing claims; it's not that a couple microns of coating can't block/reduce any UV, but the UV protective nature of it is incredibly miniscule. Clearcoat itself is far more protective from UV.

PPF/ceramic is a lot like motor oil viscosity/brand or interval debates. Everyone has their opinion, there is no universal truth. The "right" answer for someone is specific to their own preconceptions, superstitions, and goals.
The UV function is fun too, I've never had a flashlight with it. Would've been GREAT back when I lived in the AZ desert. Love hunting for scorpions with UV. They glow!
Any 4wd trim of any 4runner is incredibly capable from factory. Take off the air dam, and get an AT tire, and bam it's no longer street-oriented, it's off-road oriented.
My underground paint is great after 2500 miles. But so far I’ve only touchless washed it, no direct contact lol.
It is a flat color, no flake or anything, so I expect it to show scuffs, scratches, and swirls more than other colors, not because of “weakness” of the paint relative to the other...
I've been averaging 19.5mpg over ~2500 mi on 265/60R20 terra grappler g3s @33psi on my limited. A little worse than expected. But probably only around 10% freeway, so that's probably the culprit.
On my limited gas, I’ve learned the art of just not pushing the brake pedal hard enough to trigger ASS once you’re at a stop. I don’t even have to think about it anymore. The engine only stops if you apply an excessive amount of force to the brake pedal _after_ coming to a stop. A little thing...
