Hey Folks,

Out of curiosity has anyone managed to configure their 4runner so that the drive mode remains in sport, sport+ or custom? For the life of me I cannot figure out why Toyota would allow for the driver to keep the drive mode in either "Eco" or "Comfort", be able to turn off the car, and then come back to the same drive mode when you turn the car back on and then NOT do it for "sport", "sport+" or "custom"?!

Same with the auto-start/stop. There's got to be a way for me to keep this off permanently.

It's really not a big deal, but my long term concern is the wear and tear on the knobs and buttons specifically lol I'm basically using them EVERY time I start up the car, which I'd prefer not to do if possible.

Thanks yal!

It's not possible. I have a muscle memory sequence of buttons I push every time I start my 4Runner. While it's not ideal, I'm not losing sleep over it or have any fear of buttons or knobs wearing out.

the ecu will only retain eco, comfort, normal after ignition off. all other modes will reset back to normal.

It is idiotic that they retain the drive modes except Sport. It should either remember all of them or none of them.

i personally wish it would remember custom

trans = sport
shocks = comfort/normal
steering = normal (cant stand the stiff steering wheel in sport/sport +)

It is funny that most 4runner's do not have start stop, but a few trims/models include it.

Hey Zach. Nice to meet another Zach with the "H". I believe all models of 4Runner have the start/stop. It's just more noticeable on the gas models, as the hybrid models integrate it a bit differently because of the hybrid drivetrain. I have a Pro and there is no way to turn off the start/stop, as it's in hybrid mode a lot at slower speeds and especially when stopped at a stop light, etc.
