Auto start stop (ASS) in 6th gen 4Runner?

Doesn’t bother me. Honestly you barely notice that kind of thing.

The government should get rid of these regulations that require ASS and prevent the users from permanent disabling.

I not only want ASS to be permanently disabled, but also remove the disabled indicator light on the dash. It needs to be as if it does not even exist.

I have a Sport Premium trim 4x4 model and do not have start/stop feature. I do have a break assist that when activated (by pushing a switch beneath the parking break switch) I can remove my foot from the break pedal (after a complete stop and push on the break pedal switch) and the vehicle remains stopped. When the accelerator is depressed the break is released and the vehicle moves forward.

Hey guys

I have a 2025 4runner TRD Off Road hybrid and it came with ASS and no shut off button. It’s a permanent feature - ugh. The engine also shuts off while driving just like my old Prius - again ugh.

my current wok around is to slide the gear shifter into manual mode. This keeps the engine running all the time.

Does anyone know of a bypass device for the hybrid?

My 2026 Limited has the ASS but there is a deactivation switch on the console switch bank. I have mine defaulted in the off position. The switch is designated as the ‘J’ in the attached from the manual.

How do you "default" it to the off position? AFAIK it resets every time you restart the vehicle...

I personally did not actually do anything but, while I was reviewing topics in My Settings, I believe I saw it in there.
