How do I disable auto-braking? (not PCS)

How do you get the settings to stay off? I turned off the PCS and then the next time I started my car it was back on.

PCS defaults to ON every time the vehicle is started. I disengage every time I get in. It would be an ok feature if the braking effect weren't so harsh...

I turned off the DA (Deceleration assist) option and it no longer brakes for me like it used to. PCS being off def worked, but it doesn't stay off as you said. The DA option being off will retain when you re-start and I actually LOVE driving the 4Runner now. The DA was killing the experience for me.

From what I can tell, yes and no. Yes, it turns off the deaccelleration assist, but if you leave PCM (PCS?, can't remember, but potential crash etc), if you leave that on, it will still auto brake if someone cuts you off or you get really close to an object, but no where near as much as before. Before if a car was like 300+ feet in front of me, it would brake, which is nuts, no need.

no brake assist is different and is tied to the brake pedal specifically during emergency situations

from pg 374 hv manual ...

Brake assist
Generates an increased level of
braking force after the brake
pedal is depressed when the
system detects a panic stop situation


during panic stops people were not either not putting enough force into the pedal or letting off the pedal during the whole emergency stop, this solved the problem and has nothing to do with TSS

but i am wondering if shutting off parts of TSS will affect his feature.

Hi, not sure where this graphic came from, but some of the icons are not correct for the names. The icon shown for PKSB is really the icon for Intuitive Parking Assist, and the icon for RCD is really the PKSB icon. The icon for RCD is not shown here, and the icon for RSA is different as well. See pg 590-592 of the manual.
