2025 Toyota 4runner Trailhunter
Finally finished the Westcott front preload collar lift, OME rear spring, and 35x12.5x18 Baja Boss AT tires.

Very surprised how well this rides compared to my 5th gen, even with the D-rated tires, it's very smooth.

Looks amazing! So you did you just install the Pre Collar kit up front? Which spring did you use in the rear? Was that to level it or was it for additional weight?

I tow a little trailer, so I wanted the springs instead of the puck. OME med. rate spring.

No trimming at all, at the moment I didn't even remove the "crash bar"... I'll remove them this weekend, so far they're not even rubbing them.

Gas mileage is hanging around 15.5.

Preload gives 2.5 front lift and 1.5 -2" lift in the rear with the OME springs.

ok so this is a more for looks and tire clearance.
Aside from cost or lack of... why use a collars wouldn't this eventually prevent some travel limits of suspension? It would make more sense if it wasn't a trail hunter this seem like kind of limiting the trail hunters suspension...I'm genuinely curious not just poking holes in your build.

In some shots the rear window on the 6g looks comically small, I really notice when it’s rolled down like this!

Sorry, but I do not agree. I tested it myself by making these adjustments.

Compressing the spring gives you more ride height, but it makes the ride comfort much harder (stiffer). This is not true,people lie on the internet. The ride gets worse; that is the truth.

I have experience with this. A stiff spring will make your tires wear badly because the hard bouncing response will hit the tires against the ground harder, which can cause tire cupping.

Anyone who installs spacers or a lift and compresses the spring to gain lift will 100% make the ride harder.

Second, tire cupping, as I mentioned above.

Third, never go more than 2 inches in the front and 1.5 inches in the rear for ride height. Going higher than that can cause your vehicle’s suspension, braking system, and other components to wear out or get damaged within a year.

Compressing the spring does not increase the spring rate, so no, the ride does not get stiffer in this due to preload. Increasing spring rate moving from a 400 to 500 lbs spring will absolutely stiffen the ride.

Where ride quality deteriorates on a lift is in the loss of down (droop) travel... As you lift higher into the stroke, the wheel has less available down travel, thus when you hit a bump and the tire rebounds down it has less room to droop so you feel the effect of the missing stroke.

To call a subjective feeling truth is a stretch. Some people notice immediately, some people never notice. It's subjective there for the truth is that you do loose down travel full stop. Subjectively the ride quality is determined by the end user.

Stiff springs don't have anywhere near the impact on worn tires, bushings ball joints... as much as bad alignment. Tire cupping will happen over time as a function of wear, this is a part of a regular rotation with balance.

This is almost completely untrue. Your braking system doesn't care how much taller your vehicle rides, so long as it isn't tugging on brake lines at full droop. (That doesn't really happen on these.)

The only thing it can affect at higher lift heights is CV's, but that is entirely dependent on how it's driven as well. If you're never cycling the suspension at 2.5-3" of lift height, your CV axles don't care.

You are 100% certain on all your facts...yet...I have the pre-load lift and the ride is not harsher at all. Or maybe I am just a liar.

And all those people that have 2.5+ lifts on their 5th gens for a decade must have had spent a lot of money replacing all those parts every year LOL.
