Just needed to rant for a second because the range on this thing is ruining the experience for me.

Getting ~280 miles out of a tank is brutal. I can’t even drive to LA on a single tank without having to stop—unless I want to push deep into the fuel reserve, which I’m obviously trying to avoid so I don’t cook the fuel pump.

The worst part? There really isn’t a better alternative on the market ... well G-Wagon lol, and I don't want a bigger suv.

Is a 25-gallon tank from the factory really too much to ask for? In hopes someone from Toyota somehow reads this.

More info from their instagram, they are only 3 fuel stops away from here haha. Might go to boise and get this done. I have driven to to boise from vegas before, boy the anxiety was real.

Agree 100% my 2026 Tundra gets worse mileage and has an almost 150 mile further range. It is ridiculous.

A replacement main tank like this or an ahead-of-rear-axle auxiliary is the way I would go. For me, however, aluminized steel is an absolute, full-stop, 'Not for me, dawg' deal-breaker. That thing wouldn't last two years in New England where they put acid on the roads because these idiotic chowder-heads don't know how to drive in inclement weather.

Yeah i agree. I don’t care at all about MPGs just give me a big ass fuel tank so i can have a bunch of range.

Our Raptor can get 500-600 miles on a tank and that’s with like 14-18 MPG.

My only real complaint in 1 year of ownership.

You're only getting 17 mpg? I am easily getting 20-22 mpg on freeway trips. I have ORP Hybrid with cargo box on top.

This was one mod I never pulled the trigger on with my previous Tacoma, but I should have.

https://longrangeamerica.com/product/toyota-tacoma-4th-gen-2024-33-gallon-main-fuel-tank-replacement

I’ve been eyeing to see if they release a tank for the 4R, but I’m going to call them Monday and see if they can verify that the Tacoma tank would fit.

My work truck has a 40 gallon tank, and it’s so nice to have so much range in between gas stops.
I can see doing that for extended off road excursions without access to more fuel, but $2800 for a replacement tank just to support non-stop freeway trip to Los Angeles where there are plenty of available gas stops?

Well, if you have a roof rack, you can load up a couple of Jerry cans. They sell brackets for them so they are secure up there.

The mpg you are getting is very low for a 6th gen. But you are right…19 gallon tank is too small.

I agree that the tank could be larger, but to compare a G550 which requires Premium gasoline is not a fair comparison.
