I made the mistake of selling my Tundra to the guy that owns the house at the entrance to my neighborhood. I see it almost every day and MAN do I miss it. I really dig my 4Runner and I'm not sorry I bought it. But that Tundra had me looking back at it for 13 years.

I'm curious how tuning for the 4Runner even works. Especially for something major like a turbo. Not like you can hook up HPTuners and update some tables. Toyota's stuff is locked down. Can't even change the tire size in there.

He means fuel supply. If you want more air in the cylinders, you need more fuel. And while Toyota isn't going to run their injectors at 100% duty cycle, there usually isn't enough headroom to add much extra fuel without upgrading the fuel system.

I swapped my factory OR wheels for Trailhunter wheels, they poke out quite a bit more than the OR wheels did. I've noticed no significant change in MPG, all other things unchanged from before the swap. Factory tire size. I think other mods and larger tires contribute a great deal more to fuel...

The battery isn't for efficiency, it's for power/torque. Toyota has always said this. Its goal isn't to save gas on your commute. The battery is (relatively) tiny. That's how it charges/depletes so fast. Also, the battery is NiMH...not NiCd or Li-ion. Safer, more durable, and longer lasting...
