Hi there,

Do you change the (re-set) the oil setting after first oil change (2K miles) or do you wait until 10k miles to re-set?

No I didn't, it's just a reminder for you.

Just keep track of the oil change intervals. No sure if you're doing them yourself from now on or handing it over to the dealer. You probably already know not to go more than 5k miles/6months between changes.

Toyota "disqualifies" you from 10k oil changes based on driving styles, see the maintenance manual. Like many short trips / cold starts.

"For customers who primarily drive their vehicle under any of the listed Special Operating Conditions, the motor oil and filter should be replaced at 5,000 miles or six months, REGARDLESS OF THE OIL USED (OR CERTIFICATION OF THE VEHICLE)."

Another one
"Replace both engine oil and oil filter every 5,000 miles or 6 months, in which the vehicle is mainly driven on dirt or dusty roads, when the maintenance reminder does not appear."

You could take it in for the yearly 10k miles service at the dealer, keep the carfax clean and do an oil change in between. If you want to keep the car long term 5/months MAX, 15qt of oil is $71 on amazon right now for penzoil ultra platinum (should last you a whole year). Do not go aftermarket filter. Just get a genuine toyota for like $6. Cheap insurance

regardless of what you set it at, the internal setting outside the main screen is set to 5000 miles and comes on at 4500 miles. this is based on the maint manual tire rotation schedule.

My car has 5,100 miles on it, and I'm going in for my first factory maintenance this weekend. However, I noticed that the service items doesn't include an oil change or tire rotation. Are these two items chargeable? This is my first time driving a Toyota car, and I'm not familiar with their service policies. Could anyone give me some advice? Thanks in advance.

tire rotation is a hit or miss depending on the person, personally i never rotate tires on my 4runners (i usually get the FT4WD version so its kinda pointless in my opinion)

oil changes on a turbo i would suggest every 5k miles, some die hards go at every 3k miles and people that dont care usually go to the oem 10k miles. there are some oddballs that do it at 7500 miles but meh.

most of the people in the know follow ADM rules on CCN YT page

the oil changes you get 2 free from toyota care (you dont have to wait until 10/20k to get the 2 free ones). i used both at 5k and 10k miles and paid for the 1k oil change and 15k oil change on our 23 tundra.

some dealers will give you pushback if you use the free ones outside the 10k and 20k interval. it varies from dealer to dealer.

tire rotation i think is free until 24 months every 5k miles under toyota care, but read the terms of toyota care for specifics.

Motor oil is cheap, engine repairs are very expensive.
