Not really, learning how to use multiple resources starts with RTFM. Then add on other useful tools.Yeah, saying "RTFM" instead of answering the question is pretty lazy LOL

Even easier is loading the pdf into notebooklm or a claude project or similar and being able to ask it questions as easy as texting someone or posting on a forum!I keep the manual loaded on my phone and my computer at home. I seem to always be looking up some feature or spec. It is DEFINITELY much easier to use the electronic version with the search features, than the paper manual in my opinion.
If we're doing age-related shade today...My experience tells me that the Boomers are far FAR more likely to make their problems everybody's problems by not handling them themselves.
The younger folks will google three or four things, then ask in a group/forum.
As for "RTFM" there may be a number of reasons why they can't (to be fair, it's usually "didn't", not "can't"). My manual isn't in my vehicle and I'm frequently *checks notes* not at home when I'm driving it. Also, I've rarely had a used vehicle come with a manual. Some people may not actually have one.
This is a forum, not just a wildly complicated way of telling people to read their manuals. There could be a sticky and 200 threads on this exact question going back 11 years, and it'll still get asked weekly. See: Tire sizes on every automotive forum going back over 25 years.
i cAn sEt pOiNtS.Please don’t cast shade on us boomers. We knew how to set points, timing, change, oil, water pumps, and most everything else on a car When we were young. And a manual transmission was pretty much the norm. Every generation has its highs and its lows and as technology and knowledge advances, I say to each his own with respect to obtaining that knowledge.

Gen Z can figure that out in 30 minutes, because other Gen Z people were actually useful and put it on the internet instead of yelling at clouds about it.
Go tell another Millennial to walk into a business and shake a hand to get a job, and say nobody wants to work while you're at it.
When boomers act like absolute assholes to a younger person when they have the audacity to ask a question that the boomer is fully capable of answering...And using their age as an insult? That casts more shade than I possibly can.
"I suffered with an asshole parent, so now you too must suffer" is a miserable way of communicating with the world and says more about you than them.
The RTFM was a joke by the way. I use many sources for info.Haters, he asked a question. If you don't have the answer, then leave it alone. People like you makes these forums a crappy place to look for info. If you don't like the question, just ignore it and move on and contribute to a post where your comments can be useful.
I do have a lot of PDF's on my computer, does make it easy to jump to things.Even easier is loading the pdf into notebooklm or a claude project or similar and being able to ask it questions as easy as texting someone or posting on a forum!
“Resourcefulness” comes in many shapes and sizes. But I’d argue that asking a forum full of subject matter experts is indeed exhibiting resourcefulness, whether or not there are more efficient/self-sufficient paths.
But forums are full of grumps, 4R6G is not unique there.
Btw, I started reading the manual tonight. It's 708 pages. PLUS the Multimedia is separate from that. I WILL read it all, and I'll answer as Mandy of these questions as I can. I do love that Toyota addresses all of the odd clunks and clangs that come from the hybrid system. The RTFM was a joke by the way. I use many sources for info.
I did a brief skim over my wife's new Acura RDX manual, I think it may be as big. She has found me to be the source of information... she does not even have to read or watch a Youtube video. Just a voice command.Btw, I started reading the manual tonight. It's 708 pages. PLUS the Multimedia is separate from that. I WILL read it all, and I'll answer as Mandy of these questions as I can.
