Is there any concern of increased transmission wear and tear because of late transmission shifting or no calibration if we go to a 275 from a 245 on SR5?
No, there is no harsh shifting after larger tire installation. Now, if you go too heavy, 10 ply (E-Rated) and larger (285 and up) you will have less performance and worse gas mileage. I went with 275/70/17 C-rated 6 ply AT tires. Falken Wildpeak AT4. We installed the same tires on our 25 Tacoma and 25 4Runner. Both are doing great mechanically after the initial 1000 mile break in.

I’m running 285/70/17 no change. In fact gas mileage is unchanged even with the air dam removed.

Steering should be relatively the same, as it's now electric instead of hydraulic. I am on 35s and haven't felt a difference
im in a Pro hybrid. Running 285s with a 18 inch wheel. And my lift not wheels and tires have changed anything. I also have Ko3 E Rated tires that are classified as heavy. And no issues

Sorry but anyone who claims that increasing multiple tire sizes doesn't effect mpg or power is delusional and does not understand drivetrains.

Isn’t this thread about “transmission shifting concerns” about increased tire sizes, not fuel efficiency?

Larger tires are going to effect every aspect of the drivetrain without regearing, including transmission performance and longevity.

Based on this take, I'm assuming its your position that the 30.5 stock tires will achieve the highest transmission "longevity", followed by the 31.5 stock tire trims, followed by the 32.5 stock tire trims? But how do you weigh the increased unsprung / rotational mass against the reduced rotations per distance? Do you have some data to help with this understanding?

None of that with mine. Running 285/70/R18 with a +18 offset. And I’m also running E Rated tires and they’re pretty heavy! No issues whatsoever so ever.

I'm running an "E" also but please explain why yours is so special it doesn't follow the laws of basic mechanics?

Just remember that the 4Runner was designed to run 33 inch tires. The gearing and final drive ratio are the same on all models and trims.
