Well we have some tests that compare the two. You sticking to 0w-20 or going to something else?

Lets keep it professional.

I was hoping he’d say that increasing the number of oil changes would help. I guess we need to take samples and adjust accordingly.

Thats how I'd approach it, but he did say he plans to release more data from everyone sending in oil samples. So more to come I hope..

The next logical step from 0W-20 is 0W-30, not 5W-30!
i mean from a technical standpoint,

0WXX is tested for cold cranking at -35C (-31F) and for pumpability at -40C (-40F).
5WXX is tested for cold cranking at -30C (-22F) and for pumpability at -35C (-31F).
for ND winters -40F is about the most extreme temps we would ever see, personally i've only seen -31F ambient in the last 35yrs.

the 20 or 30 is the thickness at roughly operating temp

i think faster intervals are better long term wise for the oil in this new turbo engine. i was at a 5k interval on the 23 tundra but i will be dropping it to 4k intervals now along with the new 4R

For warranty reasons I am sticking with the recommended 0W-20 but changing every 5000 miles instead of the 10,000 the dealer recommends.
