Hood shaking possible fix?

I do notice the rear of the hood shake with bumps on the road.

Do you think it could be fixed by spraying insulation foam between the support structure and the body panel of the hood?

I would love to know if people have already done this and what brand/type of foam would resist heat the best.

The question you should be asking is if it is actually a problem before you attempt to fix anything.

Eh, I've learned to live with it. Truly shocking they released the car like this, but here we are. I would not introduce a potential issue down the road by "fixing" this.

The only thing I've thought about testing was sound deadening material or adhesive marine step pad foam.

If it bugs you that much, try it out and let us know!

Agreed. Ford catches so much shit for stuff, but my 7 year old STX has way
better fit, finish and is more solid feeling. I think the 4Rs saving grace will be 1) engine is reliable, despite the doom and gloom 2) this gen goes to 2035+ and those new ones are bullet proof like the 5th gen and we were just the guinea pigs

Got this from another thread (maybe Tacoma forum - can’t recall) - put 4 x 6” sections across the metal rib section closest to the windshield (extremely important to not seal completely and block airflow). Reduced flex by 98%. 8000km and two services with no issues.

I saw a YouTube video about Tacomas where the guy added weatger stripping across the windshield end of the hood it seemed to fix the vibration. Maybe that doesn't address hood shake entirely but might help and not screw up airflow or trap moisture.

Sound deadening material like butyl mat is a great anti vibration fix.

I did this on my doors and rear hatch. They were literally like snare drums.

Manufacturers other than high-end cars don't use sound deadening material with coverage. Very minimal, to save weight for MPG. Just my two cents

I just traded in a 2025 Ford Explorer ST for the ORP Hybrid and I thought the exact oposite. Finish and overall quality seem so much better in the 4runner. Long term relability is still a slight debate but there are many stories of peoples ecoboost transmissions dying at 70k miles. We will see

Soundskins has a product for under the hood, although this is probably way too much material, and the added weight may be an issue for those with hydraulic hood struts.
