Toyota has included lifetime oil changes for us.
However we supply the oil Valvoline Restore & Protect and they supply labour and filter every 6500km so we are pleased with this arrangement.
I absolutely would not trust dealer techs to not screw something up... and R&R isn't necessary unless your engine already has a crap load of varnish and sludge from the factory, which I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Changing it often is more valuable than starting with a heavy detergent package if there is an extra cost of R&R.

I'm not even going in for the free oil changes. Or tire rotate. I absolutely don't trust anyone else to do it, let alone the novice mechanics that normally get that duty.
No intention of derailing the thread but since you brought it up I'm in a conundrum because I really need to get the brake squeal while in reverse & occassionally in forward issue fixed under warranty which requires me to take it to a dealership. I'm currently a bit over 8,000 miles on the vehicle and it hasn't had the tires rotated yet. They still seem to be wearing pretty evenly but I'm also pretty particular about the PSI in them. I'm thinking I might stretch them to close to 10,000 miles and then get the truck in there to have the brakes repaired at the same time they rotate the tires.

I trust my local Toyota dealer to do oil changes and tire rotations

Does any know if the motor oil that the dealer service department uses for oil changes is generic bulk oil from a drum or is it the Toyota OEM motor oil?

My dealer agreed to do the 10K service (with oil change) at 4k miles - but said that my next service would be the 15K (missing out on the 5K inspections and rotation (boo-hoo:p).I'm at 16k now, did oil and my own inspections at roughly 8k and 12k. (I rotate my tires myself since I'm swapping between stock and winter/off-road regularly) So I asked if they could do the 15k and 20k together. Service advisor email: " Combined 15K/20K Service — Done. We'll knock out both mileage services together alongside your oil change so everything gets handled in one shot. "
But no evidence they did the 15k service (bunch of suspension and drive component inspections and torquing the propeller shaft bolts). In fact their service recommendation for next service includes all the items they were supposed to have done. I've got a message into the guy who said they would do both asking to be scheduled to come back to finish the promised service.
I realize that there is not much to that service, but I want the inspections on record - especially since I've been off-road a lot with my fair share of undercarriage contact (mostly skids and knuckles).

TL/DR: You should be able to get the 10K service at 8K, but you might lose out on the 5K service (no big deal there).

In order to resolve the brake squealing correctly, the dealers required to shave the edges of the pad. Our dealer has done this for us said it’s called the old dirty trick. It was used on old pickup trucks in Toyota history to remove squealing. It worked for us and we hope that this helps you greatly.

It’s sad you can trust your dealer, the rest is your option and doesn’t have an impact on how I care for my vehicle.
You're not wrong! I have had bad experiences with dealers and simply choose to avoid them for everything. I do my own service, so it's easy. And yes, opinions are what they are. I was simply indicating that a high detergent formulation is overkill on a new engine where deposits haven't even begun to take hold, and that frequent changes offsets the impact of a HD package. But, to each their own!

I took mine to today to get my 10k service and the brake TSB. I told them I didn't need my tires rotated and I already changed my cabin and hybrid air filters. I expected this as they were already on the edge, they stripped a skid plate bolt a little more than it already was. Can barely get it finger tight before it breaks free. I have already had to re-tap the front two bolts to 10mm, so I am just going to do the same over the weekend to the other 4 and be done with it. If I do continue to take it to them for the 20k change, I'll remove the skid plate before I go. I just checked all my caps under the hood and the oil filter to make sure there was nothing loose or leaking. All good so far. To be honest, chances are pretty low I'll take it back to them unless I need warranty work. These guys earn money by turning and burning these vehicles. It is no different than going to Jiffy Lube.

Can't trust no one anymore to take their time and do quality work without damaging something. Everytime someone touches my vehicles something gets damaged or not fixed correctly the first time. I don't choose shade tree grease monkeys to fix my vehicle & I don't have a problem paying for quality work. It's just impossible to find quality mechanics anywhere anymore.
