This is true. What makes me wonder is whether a high quality aftermarket filter with a better micron filtering rating is better to use than the OE Toyota filters. The aftermarket filters may filter better but what if the bypass valves aren't really calibrated to what Toyota specifies & are...
I'm familiar with those videos as I also follow the motor oil geek. However not changing the oil filter early on is something that I disagree with. The video clip & justification for not changing it is from what an expert from an air filter manufacturer says based on their studies. I personally...
'25 TRD Sport Premium here. Currently 2,403 miles & mine has the rough shifts in the lower gears until thoroughly warmed up. Coming to a slow stop sometimes results in a little thump as it downshifts. It' s worrisome as mine is intended to be driven for the next 15-20 years. I wonder what damage...
Hello all,
I just noticed on my Sport Premium there is a suspicious hole on the inner bottom side of the life gate...almost as if a rubber drain plug should be. See attached photo. It's in the very center just above a large plug. I'm wondering why it isn't plugged & what stops bugs/insects &...
I think 10k oil changes can be legitimate but ONLY with the best of the best oils AND when the vehicle is being operated ONLY under ideal or “normal” driving conditions (which a vast majority of vehicles don't operate within). Would I personally try it? A resounding hell no.
Thanks for enlightening me. So contrary to what has been said about not using oil filter wrenches to torque down oil filters it seems that the manufacturer of Toyota oil filters (Denso) instructs the use of the "SST" to install the oil filter without a torque spec & no more than 3/4 of a turn...
You may be right. Making gasket contact then snugging it up 3/4 of a turn is likely very sufficient & without the need for a measured torque spec.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to engineer the oil filter itself or the stem that it screws onto with a physical stopping point of some sort to let the...
This is a good point made. I've seen it in the instructions for most (but not all) oil filter wrenches to only use them for removing oil filters.
But what about the “end cap” style wrenches that sit on the end of the oil filter can without much play in it?
Couldn't that style be used to torque...
