I recently fitted and towed with the airlift kit for the 5th gen in the 6th gen in case anyone is waiting on a kit. Firestone recently shared the same part number for their bags from 5 gen to 6th gen.

Loaded with a camaro and aired up to 35psi it raised the rear about 1 inch and lowered the front a bit evening the weight across the truck more and prevented bottoming out.

Install is probably 15-30 min if youre good mechanically, you dont even need to take the wheels off, just slip the bag thru the springs, route the lines, use the clamps. The right side bag can be a pain to get a clamp on because of the pan hard rod so I used a small ziptie and ran the schrader to one of the premade square openings near the rear bumper.

Is this airbag upgrade purely for leveling and towing or can it be used to “soften” the suspension over road ruts and potholes?

I think this is the first air suspension kit I've seen installed on a 6th gen. And I'm curious about the ride quality improvement with the Airlift air bags - same as factory or better?

This is purely for leveling and stiffening the rear springs for carrying heavier weight. Its not an air suspension that you would find in a luxury suv, that would replace the spring entirely instead of supplementing it.

with out the trailer i drop it to 5psi and it rides the same as stock, while loaded with a trailer its up to 25-35psi and is better because i dont hit the bump stops anymore, but the Bilstein shocks do great at controlling the trailer or any bouncing.

Thanks those are the ones I was looking at but wasn't sure they'd fit!
I wasn't sure either but i couldn't keep hitting bump stops with the trailer haha so far im sitting around 15-20 psi with the car loaded to balance the ride height and ride quality with the bags

Just got mine from Amazon today now just need to install them. Did you have to take the spring out to get them in or wedge them in between the coils?

Just wedge them thru with the car lifted of course, since we dont have the bump stops to cut out its easy, don't even have to pull the wheels off
