Hi guys,

Has anyone upgraded their suspension on the 6th gen using Bilstein 5100s and used the adjustable perch to level the vehicle? I’m planning on doing a 2-inch front lift with the 5100s and keeping the rear stock height but still replacing it with Bilstein (like what’s shown on the Bilstein website / Performance level2 for reference). How was your ride experience on and off road?

My friend,

From what your saying here I truly wish u to consider a rough country front spacer lift first. Give it a shot and go from there.

No alignment issues, cheap parts and very easy install.

I added 275/60r20 tires to my stock 4R and by my measurement the front is 1.25” higher than the rear. I would suspect by lifting the front by 2.5”, it will give the truck a squat look. The good thing is you could add the Bilsteins and just tell the shop to adjust the front to be level with the rear.

Not a fan of Bilstein after my last vehicle install. Have you considered the Old Man Emu MT64 ?
feel the ride would be much better than the Bilstein ?!

We did the Old Man Emu MT64 2135K and are extremely pleased with the results!
Also we do not believe in spacers so at least you're considering a suspension lift rather than spacers!

Come's ready to install 4Hrs we had ours Done !

Just saw a picture of someone with this it cracked his control arm. I don’t recommend what you’re saying at all.

Iv been running top plate spacers for years on many different rigs with no issues. My current rig now is using a rough country 2.5” spacer kit with no issues.

Can you share the post on the cracked control arm issue or provide further context to help the user understand the concern better? Maybe there was a brand issue with their spacer set up or it was a compressed spacer that went in the actual shock itself (those can be a problem sometimes)

My spacer kit i am referring to and style slips on top of the shock and is under no spring compressing action. https://www.roughcountry.com/product/toyota-leveling-lift-kit-72800

I had this setup bilstein 5100s all round on my 5th gen , front set to 1.75 and I added a 1 inch cornfeed spacer to the rear. Never had any issues and road fine. BUT I don’t ever hardly take it off on a trail. Probably do the same setup on my 6th trd sport soon.

I think 2 inches in the front might be slightly high based on the lift I just did- not 5100’s though. I had 5100’s on my 4th gen and they were totally fine, obviously there are better and worse options. I can’t remember which snap ring settings the 5100’s have, but I think something around 1.75” would be better with a stock height rear and.

I am totally curious to why you need want to to do that?
Well, the short answer would be performance and less body roll. I’m not answering in a way that some people come in and change the subject by saying preloaded collar lift kits are better or the same. I simply don’t see a point in paying around $500 for CNC aluminum when, for the same price, you can get shocks and, most importantly, more damping, which the other application cannot provide. So I’m asking for others’ opinions or if anyone has ever installed Bilstein to level the vehicle while adding performance.

I have to come across it again. It was on a Facebook Group I’m in. I happen to read the post but didn’t think anything of it and then when I came here someone said they have it.
