Normal does not seem to be the "default" in my SR5. I set to Eco and it stays in that mode unless I change to normal or sports. Maybe its just the Sports mode that you cannot leave in that mode?
normal, eco, and i think comfort are defaults at ignition off

that means when you turn the vehicle back on it will default to the last setting you had at ignition off (but only on those 3 settings. anything above that it will default to normal (sport, sport+, custom)

I'm a "Sport" man all day, every day. Not because I'm a 50-something looking be youthful, but because it's a truck, and handling is terrible, so the Sport Mode increased that somewhat....says the manual. For MPGs, I still get about 25 with the way I drive, so no downside. I do like the sound of the engine in Sport Mode, but that's just gravy.

I have found Eco Mode not a fun driving experience. I stick with Normal and Sport depending on the day and my mood.

I use Eco pretty much exclusively. I tested the others briefly, might use them in some cases--but for "normal" driving eco is still fun for me to drive--plenty of pep/acceleration. I could definitely hear the artificial added engine sound--sounds a little cool I guess but to me silly...absolutely silent would be fine with me. I have no interest in loud/growly/whatever engine noise. I consistently get 23-24 MPG overall in my ORP hybrid.

I have been running Comfort mode for my daily drive and I am not totally sure what it is doing. It does not feel much different than Normal in everyday use.

What mode are you all using and why Does Comfort actually alter throttle response or suspension in a meaningful way Or is Normal the better default

Appreciate any input.
Eco. All day, everyday and even more so when I install my steel skid plates!:LOL:

From the manual:

Vehicles with Adaptive Variable Suspension system

• “COMFORT” mode
By controlling the suspension, riding comfort is further enhanced.
Suitable for city driving. The “COMFORT” indicator comes on.

Lets remain civil and carefully read posts before responding. I get it, we all miss posts/misread them, so I really am not upset. But the question about comfort mode has been answered twice before (now 3 times)--once shortly after asked on 4 Nov and another a while ago. As stated in the original response, it is only in a few trims.

Normal, simply because I don’t like it displaying eco or sport.

❔ Can anyone explain with accuracy what exactly happens in the engine when Eco Mode is used?
I'm curious because I've heard that using Eco Mode with 6 & 8 cylinder engines could cause cylinder deactivation which causes internal engine damage & premature engine failure. I'm not sure about the turbo 4 cylinder engines though. 🤔

I cannot say for sure, but I cannot imagine any automotive manufacturer using a feature that would cause damage or premature failure. I suspect all vehicles use some sort of cylinder deactivation, or at least cuts off fuel to cylinders if not needed for improved efficiency.

Eco mode has been explained here...primarily different shift points.

Yes, I did see it said that the shift points are different. I'm curious specifically about the engine & what goes on with it in Eco Mode. Not all vehicles use cylinder deactivation as you “suspect”.
