V6 engine recall. This is a bit concerning considering I just bought my first Toyota

Did you buy a 6g? I assume yes since this is a 6g forum, but if so is not a V6 engine so nothing to worry about? :)
Yes, I bought a 2025 TDR. I hope you are right.

I have about, 3,500 and no problems. My 4runnder is kept in a garage most of the time. I notice occasionally when backing out of the garage I get a little brake squeal. I don't think it's bad enough or often enough to complain to the dealer. One thing I'm still working on is why my gas mileage had dropped. It was better before breaking. I was getting an average of 19.2 MPG, and now it's dropped to 17.2 MPG. At one point on a long drive, I got well over 21 MPG. I did put a set of Toyo Open Country AT 3s, but they were identical size as the factory tires.

I get the brake squeal rarely and usually after I come to a stop and continue it goes away. I don't know if it is as annoying as the people looking into getting a warranty repair on it. My mpg is abou 17-18 now after putting a Skycamp 3 on top, I knew it would drop some due to wind resistance but this vehicle is for overlanding and camping so the tent stays on...

6th gen 4runner’s engine is made in Japan (along with the rest of the truck), and the v6 in the tundra is made in Alabama and truck made in Texas. Totally different plants and processes. Nothing to worry about in my opinion.

To replace 100000 engines and protect customers against a POTENTIAL quality issue probably cost Toyota well over $1 billion (100000 engines at $10k each) based on what engine replacements cost at the OEM I worked for. That should give you a warm feeling.

Toyota is the teacher for process discipline.

The Tundra has a different engine, built in a different factory in a different country, on a different vehicle platform. No similar issues have been reported on the I4 turbo that has already been around for a few years now in some Lexus vehicles.

I do not share your concern with over 11k happy miles so far on my ORP.

I sold my 21 Tundra Crew 4x4 with a 5.7 V8 to buy a 25 Tacoma and a 25 4runner, both SR5s. I couldn't be happier with both of them. AND, if I needed a full size truck I would buy a V6 Tundra. At least Toyota is replacing the whole engine and not just a bandied repair like Ford, Chevy or Dodge would do. So what if the engine fails in a new Tundra, Toyota will replace it and give you a loner with a new warranty on it. Sounds like a deal to me.

This is really not 4Runner related. Again, where are the moderators?
Every single thread I've posted on here gets hijacked immediately, even my personal build thread. Pretty annoying to be honest. Can post something and its a 95% chance someone's gonna reply with some off topic stuff or a picture of their own rig for some reason. Even me posting this right now is hijacking of this thread 😂 oops
