Not apples to apples for a 4Runner owner, but a really great video to help understand the reasoning behind the recall of Toyota's 3.4L V6 found in some of the newer Tundras and a few Lexus models.

what I like about this teardown is he explains the function of oil as a hydraulic working fluid and shows the paths it takes. it's not just for sliding metal surfaces, it's incompressible fluid under pressure, so it's used for more than strictly lubing.

I follow Dave's Auto Center on YT, so I saw this yesterday, and appreciated it for the same reason. It ends up being a really good intermediate level guide on how modern engines actually accomplish all the things (pumping, VVT, etc.).

I feel bad for all the GX/LX/Tundra/Sequoia owners though...

i am at that point that we are looking at replacing our 23 tundra platnium gas only. its been trouble free 21k miles but i have been pretty strict on replacing the oil at key points (in my opinion)

also the 23 tundra in on the list for a long block replacement

1200 miles / 5k / 10k/ 15k/ 20k and next one will be at 24k and then every 4k (i moved from a 5k schedule to a 4k schedule)

i will be giving the wife my 25 4R plat in heritage blue (she prefers blue) and i will get a 26 4R plat in cutting edge ( i prefer silver)

same options as the 25 4R minus the auto boards.
