Originally I had purchased in-channel deflectors, then I read the instructions provided and decided I didn't like the idea. It just seems like it will permanently damage the gaskets around the window frame after enough time. You're shoving a big piece of plastic into a piece of rubber that is...
The ergonomics of the cabin are weird. I'm still fiddling with the seating position every few rides after 20k+ miles.
If the wheel is in the right spot, my knees hit the bottom of the steering column and I can't see the top of the digital dash. If I want to see the dash or have space for my...
That steering wheel emblem overlay is going to become a projectile if your steering wheel airbag ever goes off. Cool mods though, I like the red interior lights.
Oh yeah, that was meant in the context of OP’s original question of OR vs ORP.
SR5 vs ORP is a huge jump closer to 15k. Plus, I am a sucker and paid markup to get one early last year. It has been a fun year though, already broke 20k miles.
I was debating between SR5 and ORP. The price delta was huge of course, but I felt if I bought the SR5 (which isn’t cheap anyway) then I would wish I had spent extra for the ORP features.
The first thing that stood out to me in the SR5 is the giant plastic trim around the screen to constantly...
K&N aftermarket filters let more airflow through at the expense of fine particulate filtering. Toyota doesn't make their filter restrictive for fun. I trust Toyota to know how to best balance air flux versus filtration quality and stick with OEM.
For the engine air filter, I think the recommended interval for normal use is 30k, but it might need to be replaced sooner if you drive in a dusty environment frequently. At least change every 30k so that your engine warranty won't be affected.
I changed mine just now at 20k because it's cheap...
My point was that even if it is an OEM part, it is not a stock part for your model of 4Runner.
As you mentioned, it was a part you bought after purchase and replaced the stock light with. Now you have tail lights that are darker than stock. It doesn’t matter that it’s an OEM part, the issue is...
For anyone considering tinting their tail lights with non-OEM solutions, I have read if you get rear ended, it's possible the other driver's insurance could claim it was due to your tail lights being too dark.
It also gives cops a great excuse to pull you over.
Sorry to hear you had issues at...
Try setting one of your meters on the dash to the turbo gauge, keep an eye on it when you hear the noise, it definitely syncs up with the turbo pressure from my observations.
90% sure this is just turbo noise? It happens when the turbo spools up under certain conditions. Usually I hear it more when I'm accelerating gently, otherwise the engine noise drowns it out.
The turbo noise from the Trailhunter snorkel is one of its fun quirks, sounds the same as what I think...
Thanks for sharing. My ORP is about to break 20k miles and will need new shoes too.
How does road noise and ride quality compare to the stock Wildpeaks?
I am not mechnically inclined, can you please clarify why the turbo would have issues? Doesn't the turbo just spin around to pull more air through the engine? What would the 7,500 mile OCI have to do with the turbo itself?
Instead of sanding the plywood, I got some carpet and wrapped it around the plywood, then stapled the carpet to the underside of the plywood. Good luck!
