Hi all. This is my first new thread (sorry if this isn't the right place for it).

I'm scheduled to pick up my 4Runner on Monday. The sales manager is asking about purchasing an extended warranty, so I wanted to get you guys' thoughts.

I was a little surprised to learn that the base bumper to bumper is only 3yr/36k mi. The dealer is offering extended to 7 yr/100k mi for a little over $2k. That seems like a decent deal to me, considering all the electronics and such in newer vehicles. Any comments or experiences are welcome. Thanks!

There's a very high percentage chance that if you do decide you want the Toyota extended warranty you can get a better price through places like fd-warranty and others. And, you can do so at month 35/mile 35,000 if you want.

not a deal. you have up to 3/36 to decide on a Toyota Factory Warranty (VSA)
you do not need one now, or next week, or next year

so tell dealer to pound sand and find a much better price later

these guys are legit and sell legitimate Toyota VSA's

https://fd-warranty.com/

I got an 7 yr / 125K - $1375.00 2025 4runner

7Yr / 75k $1500 is what I got. For $18 a month why not.

Those prices are Toyta backed extended warranties, correct?

Note that unfortunately some states, like WA/OR/CA, don't allow the sale these products by any entity other than a dealer licensed in that state. So FD-Warranty can't sell to customers in that state, unless you have an out-of-state physical address at which you can actually receive mail.

As others have said make sure it's a warranty from Toyota and you can take your vehicle anywhere and not just that dealer.

Having said that I like extended warranties for the peace of mind. Did I need it on my 2018 Tacoma I just sold to get my 4 Runner, yes, was it worth the cost, no. Also I read my new 4runner manual and believe it or not there's lots of things on it that are covered for way longer than you think. Read your manual.

Also as another said, as long as you don't get into an accident you can buy an extended warranty up until your factory one expires.
