This is a great alternative, especially for the price. Do you know what the amp rating is for the trailer outlet? I am asking because VIAIR says to be sure to check your auxiliary power circuit rating to make sure it supports the max amp draw of the compressor. The 88P's max amp draw is 20 amps. I looked in owner's manual and it mentioned that the tow lighting system is designed for 5 amps per side for brake and turn lights, which I am presuming is for a total of 10 amps. Obviously, you had no issues, but I was curious if I was not looking in the right spot to get the info. Thanks!
I use the VIAIR 88p version that clamps to the battery itself so it bypasses all internal circuity that would regulate the current. Just have to ensure the vehicle is on or else you'll drain the battery and start the engine anymore

Best of luck. I honestly hope I'm wrong but I just don't see the similar trim spot above the right rear wheel on the non-hybrid photos that I see on the Hybrid (including TH where it comes and Pro where it is option - and my TRD ORPH.) I suppose the power connector might be in there somewhere but am not sure where you would mount the compressor and the control panel. To be clear, I am using these photos as reference

And my photos:

I am assuming that the photo above of "limited" cargo area is the same as the rest of the non-hybrid trims. Am I incorrect?
Again - good luck. I truly hope you are successful.
Exactly the issue I had the first go around and you can't buy that trim piece for some reason. However, I think there is room in the front section of the trim panel for the controller to fit. I'm heading up to the dealership today and I'll let you know.

BTW - the "tray" at the top of that section looks like its the same part on both Hybrid and non-hybrid. You can pop that off (like I did) and see if the power connector is down there somewhere. I believe the power connector for the compressor is that empty white connector to the left side of the photo I posted and above the thick black cable that is tied to the body, and left of the "PW" box. If you have that you might be able to make this work. Again, good luck.

Oh and if you get an installation instruction in the box with the compressor, controller & trim piece I would be incredibly grateful to get a copy. I have hunted on line for such an instruction without luck.

It's all there I already looked. My issue was the trim panel which Toyota doesn't sell and the part's department couldn't even find a part number. (Which is crazy) But now the sell the whole kit (Controller, Compressor and accessories) I originally brought them separately and couldn't figure out how to make them work, I returned them for a full refund. Now they have the kit with instructions I will try again. I'll be more then happy to share the instructions with you.

I got back from dealership and we found the trim part number 64730-35230-C0 However, there are 3 versions of the trim and you need to make sure you get the right one, FYI the trim pieces are the exact same size. I'm still wondering if I can just move the controller forward on the trim panel and not have to spend 700 bucks.

does that say "AISIN" just above the QR code ???

if that does, then thats related to the transmission since they make most of the trans for toyota

Rear Tailgate Multiplex Network Module ?
That seems close. Searching the part number was inconclusive, but a google image search resulted in this:

"This item is a Toyota Multiplex Network Body Control Module, specifically a tailgate control module.

  • Part Number: 89222-35040
  • Manufacturer: Aisin
  • Function: Manages network communication for vehicle doors and tailgate operations.
  • Compatibility: Used in various Toyota and Lexus vehicles, such as the RAV4 and Lexus RX.
A separate search AI indicated that it is related to the Tow control and that also seems likely based on the fact that I do have the Tow Tech package option and this same part might have some functions related to Tow control. That thick black cable might even contain the backup camera video line. I'd be curious if this same module and all the same cabling exists in vehicles without the Tow Tech package - if so I might be able to unload my digital rear view mirror (replaced with Wolbox) on someone who doesn't have it and is interested....

It will work with the SR5 model. It looks like you can purchase it now as an option for only 91 dollars from factory -_-

I don’t know about that being the case since it was a 1200 option on the TRD Pro. But if that’s true it’s a score for new buyers. It looks like this will cost me $1800 including taxes for the compressor and the trim panel

I saw that as well, but I think that's just the accessories kit (e.g. hose, adapters, etc).

I thought about this just couldn't justify the cost. Also have a Viair 88 and it works well, but suck a ton of power for the speed.

Since I use Milwaukee M18 tools, I bought this and have been nothing but impressed with it. Faster than the Viair 88 and you can set the pressure the same as the Toyota fixed unit to shut off when it reaches the set PSI and can take it anywhere without needing my 4Runner to be there.

The other plus for me is I have the M18 20 inch chainsaw for downed trees in the 4Runner and quad when working with my local off road club, so I always have plenty of batteries and charger on hand.
