For those of you that have the factory door edge guards, are they just on the front two doors or are they on all 4?

They came installed front and rear doors on my ORP and seem totally pointless, even as someone who spends a lot of time getting in and out of the 4R with dirty shoes and boots. IMVHO.

Those are the "Door Panel Scuff Protectors". The door edge guards are the body colored strips on the edge of door.

I was thinking about ordering the door edge guards but had only saw they came as 2 so wanted to make sure there wasnt a back set, which sounds like there isnt.

Oops sorry. Mine came with those as well on all 4 doors too. It’s just a thin strip of clear PPF, and again seemed pointless to me so I took them off asap while it was still easy to do so. Just collects dust and dirt on the edges and makes detailing a bit more of a hassle. If you have to park a lot in tight parking spaces in a garage or something maybe it’s more worthwhile, but for my uses not worth it.

Again IMVHO.

Mine came from factory with just the 2 front doors. I am debating on removing them as I usually don't prefer them, but I couldn't get them to take it off the invoice, not a big deal. The ones I have are the paint matched metal (I think?) ones, so if I do remove them, I just need to make sure I don't damage the paint in the process.

Mine came with them too and I had debated about removing them but the risk of damaging the paint has kept me from going through with it. If you do end up, update on how it went.

Will do! I need to look up how they are installed to see how to most safely remove them. I will update this thread when/if I do this weekend.

a bunch of Toyotas
mine came with door edge guards
(it came with a lot of PIO items I didn't really want
but I needed a 4runner sooner than I could wait for
a specific more stripped one)

front doors only. they are metal and perfectly match the paint,
and are hammered on. I suspect paint damage if i try to remove them.

here are the Tacoma instructions, it's exactly the same procedure for 4runner

To remove them, you need a nylon removal tool (trim tool designed to be used with a mallet) and pound down in 1/2" increments for 4 inches, then start again at the bottom and pound up in 1/2" increments

I figured they were hammered on there. What I might try is to pry the inside edge open allowing it to slip off more easily. I do have the nylon removal tools that I could use, but I figure maybe opening it up like a tin can would reduce the chance of damage to the door paint.

I will keep these since it's already there. I will switch to clear PPF when it starts degrading.
