I have no experience with it and hope its a easy fix, but just kinda funny how your post is both "highly recommend doing this service" followed immediately by "8 safety sensors popped up and they couldn't get the issue resolved".
Again not hating, just the way it reads 😅
I wouldn't be surprised if they came from the same exact factory.
EDIT - they literally use the same exact picture, EKR just removed the outside background 😂
Good choice saying no to all the dealer ones, never buy any dealer applied anything, they use junk if they use anything at all.
Having said that, especially since its a 3 year lease, I would just do it yourself.
Modern ceramic coatings are super easy to apply. If you can apply a wax, you are...
I have heard and seen good things on EKR.
I have heard mixed reviews on Lexland with the main negative being long ship times.
Both can be had for under $300
I get a lot less service notifications/mail for my 25' 4Runner than I did for my previous 23' Lexus. Either way, doesn't bug me since I just ignore them anyway.
Couple things:
If the ceramic was done by the dealer, I would bet money that they didnt actually apply a real ceramic coat. At best, they used a spray sealant with the word "ceramic" written on the bottle.
I would ditch the brush. I know you used one successfully on the last 4Runner, but with...
Welcome to modern paints, where its thinner and seemingly softer than ever!
But what your experiencing is spot on with I think what everyone is experiencing when it comes to new Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas, etc...
Thanks for providing your pics and experience. I plan on making a transfer case purchase next time Toyota has a mega sale, and I have the TRD skid plate already, so this is perfect.
I always wonder what % of 4Runner owners actually do this.
I have owned mine since September 2025 and have just over 5,000 miles, but haven't had a chance to take it in the dirt in order to turn 4H on safely.
Thanks for that heads up! I have been using a torque wrench for the skid plates, I think the torque specs for it is 27ft lbs, which is less than the oil drain plug (29ft lbs), so definitely a good word of caution, don't crank it down too hard.
No problem! This is my first time doing 20% on the front windows. It's for sure the darkest I would go for front windows. Sometimes at night I crack open the windows when its low light settings with potential pedestrians 😂
Hey @Monochrome is this Santiago Peak trail? I have been looking for local trails just to get mine a little dirty (and somewhere I can turn the 4H on every so often), and I thought a bunch of Orange County trails were closed.
Thanks!
