I live in Central Florida and am planning a road trip to Glacier National Park in September. About 2,700 miles one way. Wondering if anyone has driven super far yet, and if so, was your 6th Gen comfy on the road, gas mileage etc. Let me know as I am going out on a limb here. I don’t fly, just in case you are wondering.

Gas mileage sux, it rides like a truck and gets loud at 80+mph.

Other than that it’s great!

More seriously, I don’t feel particularly tired after driving a few hundred miles in a day, even after a few days. But a Lexus RX is quieter, more fuel efficient and more comfortable.

So it’s all about what you and your passengers expect. I wouldn’t hesitate to take the 4Runner on a trip like yours, but it helps to approach it with the right expectations.

depends on average speed. you can easily get 20+mpg at 70mph. mountains would obviously reduce that, but then again, nobody buys this type of vehicle for its fuel efficiency... It's perfectly comfortable, as long as it's comfortable for you. you can make seat angle adjustments with blocks if necessary. it's not terribly noisy at 70 either

Absolutely counts! Did it wear you out?
Only temporarily. My wife and I are looking forward to visiting more of the U.S. and Canada this Spring. I'm going to install some Rotopax pack mounts and some Maxtrax before leaving.

I live close to Glacier NP. September is the worst time to go. Too many people! The main road doesn't required reservations anymore so more & more will show up. You will be in bumper-to-bumper traffic all day long. No where to pull over & enjoy the scenery cause it's all packed with tour busses. Won't be able to turn around. It's 1-way traffic East <-> West.

Go in off season, like now > June.

So there are no longer Timed Entry Vehicle Reservation Passes required during peak season ?

And GTTS road is always one way now ?

Thank you for that information. Was not aware of that.

both directions, but 1-lane, is what I meant. You won't be able to pull over to U-turn due to no-space in the pullover area, unless extremely lucky.

I'll second that. I live about 50 minutes from the entrance and it's crazy during the summer and through mid to end of September. However, Flathead Valley is incredible and there are tons to do around here, some great fire trails, camping, etc. If you need any suggestions, please just let me know!
