I’d been searching for a speaker delete / blank plate so I can fill the hole when I remove the speaker before parking for a while. Came across this:

https://www.printables.com/model/1228986-toyota-tacoma-jbl-flex-speaker-delete-blank-4th-ge

Printed it up in ASA, and it works perfectly in the 4Runner too. Great solution. I think he sells ASA printed ones through Etsy, but make sure you don’t get the PLA knockoffs (they warp in moderate sun).

But why? Reason I ask is, if you take the speaker out, aren't you out as well somewhere else with the speaker rocking out so who cares that the speaker hole is there? 2nd its part of the sound system so wouldn't you want it in if you driving around? 3rd JBL sells some speakers if you need one all the time somewhere.

Some people may feel as I do that 1) Having the speaker in is a theft magnet. 2) Having the speaker left out doesn't make a huge difference in the quality of the music.

I like this idea. I may buy one for the summer so it doesnt just cook in the Texas heat.

Does the speaker actually play when plugged into the dash? I can't really tell.

Lmao dude....Im old enough to remember guys walking around with entire head units they were able to slide out and faceplates that would pop off for "THEFT DETERRANCE". Just take the speaker with you when you get out of the car...lol

I'm not going to carry the thing when I park at the airport, and fly overseas. Leaving it as an open hole invites 'oh they just put it in the glovebox' thoughts. A plug says 'it wasn't there at all'.

I honestly can't think of any time I'll ever use it - I have vastly better bluetooth speakers already. I'm going to test the sound without it, and if I can't tell the difference, it'll be permanently removed.

i was being sarcastic dude lol. You really are making it much more of a big deal than it really its. NO one is breaking into your car for that speaker bro.

Well funny your saying that but yes they will break in and steal it and it’s happening at the dealership!
The first day at the dealership picking up my 4Runner the salesman had the speaker with him. I asked him why he has that and he told me they have been stealing them! So yea do what you feel is best to keep a thief from breaking into your car because they are stealing them.

Probably, but this is a $2 fix to avoid the chance. I don't leave anything of value visible when parking at airports (or anywhere near downtown).
