Well... the screeching noise came back! So I contacted Toyota again! I should have started the buy back option the last time, but I decided to give the 4Runner a try, but here it is again! This would be the 4th time! I already contacted Toyota again and attached a video of the noise. Let's see what happens now...while I ove the 4Runner, I don't think I will settle for another one:mad: Reading this forum I realized thatches is a random issue and who knows if I get lucky again! LOL

Good luck… I’ve contacted them 13 times since April 4th 2025. Plus I filed arbitration and requested a buy back. I spent a month collecting documents…. Every single service record, every chat everything. I sent videoes tons of them. Told them it’s unsafe and will affect my resale value. At the end of the day Toyota only came back said it doesn’t meet Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Toyota dealer only tried to repair the brakes twice and the regional manager refused having them done third time. It didn’t matter that I brought it in 5 times to the dealer…. I had other issues but each time I mentioned brakes.
Good luck to you! I hope you stick it up their ass. I still haven’t written my letter of disappointment directly to Toyota not sure what VP to address the letter to.

Basically the free arbitration service Toyota offers to consumers sided with Toyota. Go figure

Wow! Sorry to hear that! Will keep you posted! At this point, after 30 years of owning Toyotas, I am getting closer to switch to another brand. I was very excited for my first 4Runner, but I guess it was not in my path😔

This is my 3rd. It was so loud today I heard my wife leaving with the 4Runner while I was upstairs in the master bedroom talking to a vendor about window blinds. I even have impact windows lol. But I’ve dealt with it so long now it’s whatever. Wish they would have at least sent me a candy gift basket. I can tell you that from all the reading I’ve seen the only Toyota truck on the new platform that doesn’t squeal is the Tacoma.

I haven’t had mine fixed the first time yet. Got the run around from Toyota of FWB. I was there last week and finally cornered the service manager. Supposedly, he contacted regional Toyota?, and was told a new bulletin was coming that replaces the rotors as well as pads, however because there are not enough rotors available they won’t release the bulletin until they have them in stock. At this point I really don’t believe them, but that was the latest I was told. He did at least say he would replace the pads under the current bulletin if I wanted but would need to do it again once the new one is released. Any else hearing about a new bulletin being released.

They just released one that says they can now use two different type of shims…. lol it’s so weird they techs can’t do anything outside of what the Toyota says to do. So I guess 2 tsbs back the had a different shim kit then they changed it now it says use both. As far as rotors I haven’t heard anything but that sounds like what they should have done from the first freaking time. The tundra and sequia get them why don’t the 4Runners or land cruisers?

I posted this in another thread but reposting here:
________________
I think I may have solves this issue!

I sprayed CRC Brake Cleaner in my front brake pads earlier this month. Sprayed on the pads, avoiding calipers & on back side. I turned the wheels to get more room to spray them. I use the extended nozzle.

Magically, the squealing has STOPPED right after! I'm not sure it's a fluke or something else but in the morning when backing up from garage to driveway, it's peacefully quiet 🄲 Been 3 weeks now. No other issues at all.

Ambient temp at 7am is ranging from 30° - 50°F. Some time wet, some time dry. It's the 18th of Mar. No squealing when reversing! šŸ™Œ

Will update if anything changes.
