Same here as as above from OP. I ran both open for a good 200 miles since I ran out of time to craft foam blocks. No codes or issues there.
Then I ran Snorkel closed for another full tank maybe before going back to stock w/ TRD closed.
GO TH all the way!
To reassure you, with my foam block...
To summarize above statement :
-Option 1 : TRD mod blocked with foam. "Snorkel" open. Like stock form TH. : Normal use 90 % of time.
-Option 2 : TRD open. "Snorkel" blocked with foam at intake vent : @ trip destinations w/ family 10 % of time.
- Option 3: Both TRD an "Snorkel" open. No MAF...
Sorry I forgot to report back :
I ended up making a foam rectangle with a string I can put at the end of the Air intake instead of having to "block " the channel inside the air box. Removing the filter it's kind of a pain. Otherwise It's only 2 small screws holding the screen and then I leave...
My wife just learned to make sourdough and has a yeast batch in the fridge! Delicious !
Totally unrelated to MPG!
Getting 21.2 on this tank thus far, ECO, 87, 50-50 driving.... all good!
I have the factory ones too, but they are not long/ wide enough to stop those pebbles. Aftermarket is the answer unfortunately. I rigged a makeshift ones up front to help the issue, but eventually will go aftermarket.
21K miles and many smiles here !! Enjoy it!
Just beware of that paint....it's ultra soft! Breathing on it will scuff the clear coat....
Get mudflaps or unless you want rock chips on the passenger doors.
Otherwise a solid Toyota truck!
The usual running around town stuff last month with extra back an forth..... Winter storm....No big trips...:cry:
ECO, 87 oct, 21k mile - TH - stock.
TX -> CO 12-hours = Excellent!
TX -> WI 16-hours = Excellent!
TX-> TX 9-hours  = Excellent as well!
In conclusion : it's a great travelling Truck ( important word there).
Looks great OP !
I add to comments above. I have a TH without the ORP running boards, but sticking the tires out further will most likely cause rock chips as i have on mine....
I think the last year of a manual 4Runner is 2000... I own a 99' manual myself and DD it for 8 years.
Deep inside I wish they offered a manual now, but honestly I'm kind of glad they did not on the 6th gen because I would have been thorn about deciding....
Getting older myself, an AUTO is...
Chasing tails sucks... and definitely not normal what is happening to you.
Lots of comments here, but maybe as someone said : high pressure fuel rail?
EVAP seems to be out of the question. maybe?
The Hybrid 4runners have a collection of "chirps" & "whirls" going on.
- electric parking...
WAVE MAKER looks great. Got the $$$, go for it.
Toyota's tech was never their strength. their overly beefy engineering (truck platforms worldwide) on the other hand...
Strange... I have not experienced that at all. I park inside a garage. I did notice a few times recently the "sweet" smell of coolant coming from the hot grill after parking. Only a few times and has not happened again...
Obviously you are having another issue here, because that is not...
Thanks for sharing OP. We can start sleeping better at night. 😊
I'm gonna stick with 5k intervals (did one break in before 6K) for ease of tracking. I was doing 4-5k intervals on my 3rd gen for 120k miles and it still runs smooth as butter w/ 328K on the clock.
I got 21K now and plan to do it...
I'm at 21K on a Trailhunter and still squealing. After reading your post I feel like it's futile to get the TSB done... I told the dealer at 2k and the took "note" of it and never celled me back about it. After reading some of the experiences here with dealer issues....F%#$ it, I'm used to it...
