I think my 4Runner is possessed! The noise is gone for the last two days! Maybe because it knows I made an appointment to have it checked?🤣🤣🤣

Well, the screeching sound has returned!!! Made an appointment for next Monday! Will keep you guys posted. I reviewed a video to show the technicians

That's so frustrating and I'm in a similar boat. You most likely will have to leave it overnight so they can reproduce the noise. That's what my dealer made me do the first time.

However I will note, the squealing comes and goes after my dealer did the TSB and resurfaced the rotors. Sometimes when I reverse after it has sat outside for two days there is no squealing. Other times I reverse after half a day of errands and it squeals. The silver lining is when it does squeal, it's not as bad as it was initially. Maybe you are experiencing the same thing with regards to the noise being there one day and then gone the next.

It's difficult to talk to the maintenance guys because neither of us know what's going on. "I don't know. Sometimes it's a problem and sometimes it's not. Can you fix that?"

Just a ridiculous situation to have to deal with in 2025 with a reputable automaker like Toyota. Sigh.

I agree with you! It was the first time the screeching noise returned. I remembered it was a very humid day, however, we have a 2021 4Runner in the house at it doesn’t screech at all. I won’t justify Toyota by agreeing to “humidity could make the brakes screech” argument because I have another Toyota 4Runner next to mine and does not follow this poorly articulated excuse. I have had Toyota cars all my life, but I am thinking about switching brands. The question is which one to choose that does not have issues. Well, let’s see where this leads. For now, if I don’t record any noise tomorrow, I will cancel my appointment. It would be a waste of the time I don’t have. We purchase Toyotas for a reason, and that reason is vanishing.

update on 1/12/26- took my vehicle to dealership. A Techcase was opened since they applied the TSB and the problems continues. Will drop the vehicle next Wednesday to have it inspected by Toyota engineers on Thursday. The soap opera continues... LOL

I took my SR5 in for an early oil change, o notes the TSB in the online appointment form.

They were able to knock it out. The said it was pads + hardware and add an hour to the service.

🤞 the noise doesn’t return.

Update: mechanics could not replicate the noise, so two days after, nothing was done. I sent Toyota two videos to include them on my case. I still have to hear from the case manager next week. I can’t believe that I wasted this third time and nothing could be done. Very disappointed!!
