Curious to see if anyone that had their 4Runner on the QC holds has had the break squeal issue? its only been about a month but I wonder if they worked on this issue as well as the chin spoiler. Mine was on the hold and no issues so far but I only have 1200 miles
Mine was on QC hold. The spoiler definitely was fixed since there was Loc-Tite on every screw. Unfortunately my brakes started squealing at 500 miles in.

It is truly unsettling. I wish I would have researched brake squealing for land cruiser and tundra before I took my 2016 4Runner that had 0 wrong with it and traded it in. I mean who would have thought not to research that??? Oh well. Live and learn I guess. I am trying to get enough courage to look at a wrangler at this point. There aren’t many options comparable to a 4Runner and shit I mean that’s how loud the squeal is I am sitting here thinking hummm do I want a jeep I don’t care if it falls apart at least I don’t wake the god dam block up in the morning…. Truly lost at the moment.

Heard there's a revision to the TSB with a revised new part:

04947-60140 - Fitting Kit, Disc Brake Front (Anti-rattle Spring)

The original TSB's part number for this was #04947-0C030.

That's the only difference in the revised TSB.
Does anyone have the updated TSB file?
Thanks!

Hmm... so I don't have this backup squeal like I've seen in videos but I do hear a very slight squeal while driving. It's not related to braking. It doesn't get worse when braking. It does seem to get a bit louder when making a right turn. These kind of noises are hard to pinpoint. Could it be dust in the brakes? Bearings? (I hope not).
I have this issue as well, hoping the TSB fixes it as it's driving me crazy. :)

Is this the spot where I say "I have this also, and would like the updated TSB"?

If not, I have this also, and would like the updated TSB.

I recorded a video to show them the noise! You can either do it while you drive in reverse or someone else rescued it. It proved to be very effective!!

This whole ordeal has been one shit show after another. I’ve literally given up on Toyota as a customer oriented brand…. I’ve been complaining since April 7th, I’ve had 10 cases open with Toyota brand and the dealership has refused to do anything since April because Toyota told them not to. Then they attempt the tsb 2 times doesn’t work. Same shit noise. Toyota brand said open arbitration case. So I did and I request buy back or repurchase. Why am I not entitled to the same satisfaction as others who have no brake noise!? Anyhow since I am now in arbitration Toyota brand won’t speak to me (that was probably there way to brush me off for a month) and then Toyota does an initial response on my arbitration…. Said I didn’t give them enough time to repair it and they only tried it twice….. dumb assess I been asking since April to repair it. They also claim customer satisfaction is their highest priority yet won’t even bother to attempt to repair it again or provide me with another vehicle. I AM not going to take a 10k hit on a brand new vehicle that has had an issue since purchase. I hope you guys don’t have to go down this path.

Honestly at this stage just pull the pads out your self and grease them with this: https://www.permatex.com/products/l.../permatex-silicone-brake-parts-lubricant-8oz/

I used this to amazing effect on incessantly squealing, semi-metallic BMW brake pads with 370mm discs up front. The 4runner only has 335mm front discs by comparison. ;)

Quieted them perfectly, even after washing or inclement weather.

Apply this on the backs of the pads where the piston contracts, the edges of the pad, and the channels on the brake caliper.

My next step after arbitration is to bring it to an independent brake mechanic. Don't want to touch it now incase it needs to be inspected but thank you for the link i am going to research that!

Is this what the issue is? Just applying grease to the pads?

The TSB seems to indicate this, as it's mostly shims and new hardware.

These assemblies would be made by 3rd party contractors and delivered to the factory, and whoever the sub assembly provider was probably made a mistake.

I get squeals occasionally in reverse. I may have to try cold reverses to see if that's the issue.
