Also after they did the TSB on my 4runner look how the driver front wheel looks. Is this normal? The car has 2,600 miles. Services rep told me that Toyota technical service asked about the condition of the disk and the mechanic replied to them and they are waiting to hear back from them. For me it looks like they are clueless. That's the thing that worries me more they have no clue about what is causing the squeal. Or maybe they do and the fix is expensive. I am starting to get desperate.

there is an updated tsb from the 4th they changed the anti rattle clip part number online. I did a ChatGPT between the old and new part numbers and they do have different size and weight so maybe that will work. Toyota brand contacted me and asked to bring it in to the dealer and see if If that works but they said this isn’t a guarantee they don’t know if it will fix it or not just that it was updated the tsb[/QUOTE]

So it confirms my theory that they are clueless. They have no idea of what is causing it. I just messaged the service rep to look for the updated TSB.

yup. I don’t think it’s gonna work. Who knows….. I am so sick of hearing the noise it just sits in the driveway I take it out when nobody is around in the neighborhood :)

Like the next day. When I heard it I was like eh new car thing was kind of surprised it was so loud but didn’t think anything of it. I also had a 2016 4Runner that was perfectly fine 0 issues never been to the dealer for anything other then general maintenance. I got that new back in 2016. I was not aware of any type of issue regarding brake squeal noises in other models like tundra for example. The following week I took it in for service at my local dealer using the same service guy for 15 years between my last two 4Runners. I also had a 2008. He wasn’t surprised he said he was aware of other models but hadn’t seen a new 4Runner yet. They did an inspection said everything was fine. he said call Toyota. So since April like 6th or something it’s been in 5 times. I had some other issues they needed to fix. I needed a new spoiler and also driver door rattle. Everything is fine except that r brake noise. Each time after the tsb was done (twice) follow day no noise and then the day after light squeal which I could 1000000% live with that light squeal noise but gods f sake i can’t f drive to dunkin at 630am in the morning because it wakes up my kid because of how loud it is. Then that’s a big deal cause now everyone has to get up early and blah blah and wow just fracking wow dude. And nothing from Toyota just a half ass fix. Sorry just venting haven’t really enjoyed my rig since I got it and financially now I am stuck for a while. What is really baffling is some people don’t have it, some have it lightly and isn’t a big deal, some have it really bad
As I'm reading through the comments it looks like there are a lot of complaints coming out of Florida. I live in Southern CA. and we've had a hot Aug and early Sept; received the 4Runner about 900 miles ago (6-8 wks ago). I have heard the squeal lightly early in the morning backing out but only a few times. I'm thinking it's a temp/ humidity thing. Not that any of that is helpful.

It is probably related to that to some degree. I dunno my 2008 4Runner I had till 2016 it only squealed when the brakes wore down and sometimes in reverse but the tone and pitch was different. Same on my 2016 I wouldn’t even consider complaining about that noise. When they did the tsb on mine twice now before the revised one it would go a day no noise then the 2nd day it squealed hardly though not enough I would have said anything and then 3rd day holy hell

Doesn't sound like they (Toyota) have any idea what to do with this problem. No doubt Toyota will get a handle on it eventually, sucks till then.

Same here living in southern California myself. Had it fix once mid August per the TSB but now the problem is still there as of this writing. Approximately 3k miles. Brought it back to the same dealer last week but nothing they can do except wrote up a report to Toyota engineering and wait!

Buckle up my friend. Did the TSB a few weeks ago and the issue still persistent. Took the car September 6th, 2025 they were able to replicate the issue. They told me they would have a response back from Toyota within 24 hours. I am still waiting for a response. So this is going to be a ride.

Also the transmission on low gears is rough I thought it was a one time thing but it has been going on several times.

Does anyone's brakes squeak while driving forward (without brakes even applied)? I thought I heard that today slightly for a bit, could have been a different vehicle but I would also not be surprised if it was the 4runner.

Yes it did before the tsb I haven’t heard it since but it squeals like a pig in reverse still

9700 miles and still squealing....Sad to see folks here getting "it fixed" so it can return later on.....As I imagined : let's hang in there until they have a proper fix... reverse into the spots I guess..

Mine did it forward the other day....same conditions (speed and brake application) as in reverse. needless to say my hairs stood up but when I tried to replicate it seconds later it went away so far...🤞🤞

The squeal is loud and even worse now than before the TSB was done. It's embarrassing to get my neighbor's attention whenever I leave home! Will never buy a car newly redesigned the very first year again!
