I’m usually more of an ultralight backpacker, but I always wanted to give sleeping in the vehicle thing a try. Picked up a Nokhu rack on sale recently, and it worked out great. Only needed to move the front seat up an inch or two to give me (5’11’) plenty of room to lay down. Even found a spot with a nice view of the mountains.

Nice location and pic! Do you have any photos of your camping / sleeping rack / mattress set up?

Right now the front of the bed just rests on the backs of the folded seats, I put a piece of carpet tile under it even though it’s likely not needed. If I was to use the bed more, I’d maybe find a way to get the front legs to reach the floor in front of the back seats. Really not something I think is needed as this is stable and I don’t see it doing damage if anything to the back for the rear seats.

I have been toying with putting that type of a cot system as well. Which model did you end up with? I can't tell if that is the mini or the standard.? Another fellow Forum follower actually used a Coleman cot that has almost the same dimensions to the back and it laid over the back seat area.

But I like the idea of this better, because it can be used as a campsite platform to set things like lights or stove, cooler etc.
Thanks in advance.

thats nice! but I wanted to share what I did for $50, I bought a cot on Amazon that measures up 8” in height to level my sleeping area… works well and easy enough to assemble and disassemble to pack into a small bag.

Could you share the amazon link ?

Does that fit over the rear seat? Or did you remove it?

Here is the link to the cot: https://a.co/d/fkBREup

Also to answer your question how I positioned it. I put the foot end part over the folded rear seat. I put on the three foot mount of the bed and left the last two without the legs. It’s very solid and sturdy. I then put my 2” thick sleeping pad over it…I positioned the foot of the bed over the rear seat so when I go in, head first…
