Well I had the 5100 leveling kit on my 5th gen and it made the ride very planted and smooth but with Superior damping and rebound.

My new ORP seems a little bouncy as I'm driving down flat asphalt. That's probably a byproduct of poor valving.

I wonder what shock that really is with its pretty red paint?
Am i missing something that's in this Factory inherent design shock absorber.

If anyone can chime in,
thank you

The TRD Off-road (premium or not) has the Bilstein shock - different than all the other trims. I don't know the Bilstein PN but you can see the Toyota PN on the shock. TRD OR shock
Check tire pressure re: bounciness. Makes a huge difference. (I found 39# to be sweet spot between bounciness and MPGs but 33# spec value is defiantly smoother. Either is MUCH better than the 55# mine came with)

Thank you yes I just increased my tire pressure too 40 PSI and that seemed to make a pretty good difference. Thanks for your comments

It’s the stock tires size. Sidewall is shorter than a typical 285/70/17.

I’ve never experienced harsh. But I always ran 285s

I've run a 5100 kit with coilovers (toytec) on my 5th gen for 8 years. I think that truck rides a little softer than my ORP but not by much. I personally don't think the ORP rides harsh for a body on frame SUV that's set up to go off-road. Curious what folks are comparing it to?
Same here I think it rides just fine I just want to get rid of that stink bug look! My fifth gen had the Bilstein leveling kit and it was fantastic with compression and rebound! And I did a lot of ground pounding.

Bilstein is developing their 5100 based lift kit for the 6th gen 4Runner.

Here's the first looks of a 2025 4Runner on Bilstein 5100 shocks / lift -- 3" front lift and 1.5" rear lift (with and without swaybars)

A 6112 shocks based kit should also be coming later. Credit to @vlcsnrs for the info/pics.

What is the holdup on the 5100s? Front shock should be the same as the Tacoma with a revalve on the rear. I’m literally waiting on this just to lift. I have tires and wheels just sitting in the garage collecting dust and STILL riding stock /:

The upper shock stem is different. The 4Runner has a D-cut shaft which locates into the tophat bushing. The Tacoma has a round shaft, it is not D-cut. Also, the lower control arms are different between the 4GT and the 6G4.

Yes, we have a 25 Tacoma SR5 and a 25 4runner SR5. Before I installed a Westcott on the 4runner I took measurements. The Tacoma was already sitting 2.5" higher than the front of the 4runner with the same exact tires and 17" wheels. Strange, but the 4runner had a not so nice rake to it.

Yes I am waiting for the Bilstein kit is well. I heard they were going to make a kit with the 6100? Can't remember where I read that. I had the Bilstein kit on my 5th gen which I found to be a very solid well-rounded feel. Turning was very level, seemed to take away understeer and rebound felt very smooth through the complete range of compression and rebound. For daily driving and light cow trailing I thought those were fantastic for the price and quality. I'm tempted on the fox but I am probably going to wait for the bilsteins.

Interesting - Would a 4GT entire front shock fit in a 6G4 with 4GT top hat?

Well

I’m not waiting. When I get back from vacation I’m just going for the arb OME option. They are digresive at a 3/2 lift
