I’m running OEM mudflaps with a +25 offset and 285s, and after doing my first wash in a few months I noticed a surprising amount of contamination on the paint especially on the front driver and passenger doors. A clay bar removed most of it, but there are still a few stubborn spots that won’t come off. I’m thinking about switching to the Ark mid‑flaps and was wondering, for those who are running them, if they do a noticeably better job of keeping debris off the sides compared to the OEM flaps.

Hey there. I have them on my Pro and think they're great. I have custom Micro's on the back and the mid for the Pro on the front. I think the front ones need to be about an inch wider and need to reach out to Jason (ARK Owner) to let him know. Here are some pics and apologies for the dirt!

I bought their micro ones but haven’t installed them yet. I wonder if they’ll have a big enough foot print to make a difference. Of course, that’s why bought them, because they are minimalist.

They're "better" in that they retain clearance on off road trails vs factory ones. So less likely to get torn off by a rock.

In terms of mud/dirt abatement, I'd say they're no better than stock.

I am going to install the micros and depending on putting them to test might consider upping to mids.

I installed the TRD Pro ARK mids on my ORP to account for the extra tire poke (+20mm) -- the OEM flaps were woefully inadequate with the wider tires. The OEM flaps also have a point that sticks out more in the tire well which caused some rubbing, and they are horribly inflexible if you drag them on an obstacle offroad. I never caused any damage the few times I did, but the noise is horrendous and there's a post on reddit right now about a guy who damaged his whole rear bumper just from catching his OEM mudflap on a snowbank.

The ARK flaps are still pretty stiff, but they're a flat piece of plastic rather than the weird concave design of the OEMs, so I suspect they'll flex a good bit better. The one thing to note with ARKs is that the two lengths are quite a bit different: the regulars are actually several inches longer than the OEM ones and leave very little ground clearance, while the mids are quite a bit shorter than the OEMs. I ended up going with the mids for the added ground clearance but would have preferred them to be the same length as the OEMs, just with extra width.

Are there some adjustability to how much the flaps stick out? I didn't want the flaps to overly stick out.

what is the length/width of the ark full size flaps? are they 22in by 12in ???

looking at some universal rekgens and those are the specs. i am more concerned about length though to keep the front wheel spray from reaching the rear door kickouts

I run the Micro Flares. They keep the rock chips and splash off the side of my 4Runners. Especially after I put new wheels and tires on.

Our tires have little poke and I share your concern for not wanting flaps that extend out unnecessarily.

Even Rally Armor ($337) and the newly released RokBlokz flaps extend out like the Arks.

This Ark pic was posted by and credit to a forum member here. You can see slots to possibly provide some adjustment.

I may go with TufSkinz flaps which have a cleaner profile.

You can trim the Ark to length with a sharp razor knife. I took a couple inches off the regular front wheel Ark flaps because the stuck down so much. The rear ones don’t, so I left them alone.
