so, the back window switch seems to defy logic. press up to make window
go down, pull down to make window go up.

Well, if you drop the overhead console box the switch is direct connected
to the PCB, so not easy to make a change.

The connector though, is accessible. Anyone brave enough to flip
these pins 20 and 19 and make the switch operate like some of us think it should ?

Pull down, window down, push up, window up.

NOTE: 20 and 19 are test points, there is no wire there
the actual wires/pins to flip are 22,21

22 pink - up

Curious....but not sure I want to drop the panel just for the switch. Now if I had to drop it for other stuff then I'd likely consider it.

I just replaced the map lights with the Meso light and contemplated switching the wires during that process but I didn't pull the trigger. I may have to try it!

Any wires to switch to get the dang hatch to open via power assist with the window down?

It makes sense in my mind. I've driven or ridden in many cars with a "lever" window button, as opposed to a "switch" style toggle. The lever style was always pull for up and push for down.

But I can see how it can be confusing to some.

I believe you would do it at the plug in the liftgate.

Weight is the issue most likely. Would need a much stronger motor to account for the leverage added with window further away from liftgate hinge.

that's part of it

the other part is if window was down, there is a big chance something
is sticking thru the window opening, and if the gate raises or lowers
with something passing thru the opening, some type of damage might occur

and this has been bugging me. If I fry my 4runner so be it.
