I love my 4Runner but was just wondering how you guys are all dealing with this ride quality?

Mine is an ORP non-hybrid with stock 18's wrapped in AT3WA's. 33 PSI.

The best way to describe the rid quality is imagine an Xbox controller vibrating, but it's the whole car. Even on seemingly smooth pavement, there's constant vibrations and on any rough cracks it's jolting the whole car. Granted, my last two trucks were Ram Rebel with air suspension and a Gen 3 raptor so maybe I am a little spoiled with ride quality..

Before I bought mine I test drove an SR5 which actually rode very well. I did not think the ORP would be this much harsher.

Has anyone noticed a big difference with different tires? I've heard these AT3WA's are pretty bad. Or did I just pick the wrong trim level?

The ride coupled with the fact that the softex seats are a bit firm in the bum region is making me consider trading it in- thankfully getting a lot of strong offers value wise, so that part won't be painful.

Interesting that the SR5 rode very well for you. One of our forum sponsors @alldogsoffroad said this about his SR5, " The OEM SR5 suspension was really, really not great. " He changed to their ADO Fox Suspension which was a big improvement.

I love most everything about my ORP (non-hybrid). My biggest gripe being the harsh ride just as you described it. Doesn't make sense that owners should have to spend thousands more on a $60K vehicle to improve the ride quality.

My ORP also came with 18" Falken AT3WA's. At 99 miles, I replaced the Falken's with five Toyo AT3 LT275/70R18 E-rated. I believe there was a very slight reduction in ride harness. But still far from good.

My solution arrived today. Fox 2.0 install next week. Even if the OEM ride was good, I would have still installed these for a 2" front lift. Also, Peak Suspension 1" rear spring spacer is on the way.

A lot of folks have said the ORP Suspension is stiff. I’d just get some better suspension.

I have the 2025 ORP non hybrid and I love my suspension. Same stock tires run at 33-34psi. iMO, my ride is incredibly smooth. I was surprised at how smooth it is. Interesting that you’re having issues.

25 OR Hybrid here. Generally speaking, on smooth, flat roads, the ride is fine. Very solid and Toyota-like. There are some roads however, say, an asphalt road that is broken up or a concrete highway with expansion strips when that is definitely not the case. When I had my 5G OR, I didn't notice these roads, but with the 6G ORH, it feels the truck is constantly jittery/vibrating. It felt as if the shocks can't control the unsprung mass of the suspension - primarily the rear axle. After a 100 mile trip on a bad asphalt road (a road I never really noticed before with the 5 different cars/trucks I driven on it), I was physically uncomfortable. I put on a set of Fox 2.5 rear shocks and the vibration/jittery feeling is almost gone. The rear axle feels more isolated from the truck. The front shocks are still stock. I'm not inclined yet to put the Fox 2.5's in the front, but I may eventually. It's possible that the 6G owners who don't know what I (or the OP) are referring to have yet to drive on a poor highway or road for a significant amount of time. There are lots of threads here with people calling out the rough ride with various 6G trims. Did that happen with the 5G? I don't think so. The 6G compression damping is not as good as it should be IMO.

how are you liking the 2.0's? Did it soften up the ride? I agree that the ORP rides to firm and looking for a softer ride that I don't feel every little bump. Debating between Fox or Bilstein when they release their kit.

Our goals were a 2" front lift, 1" rear lift for our mild off-roading; and to eliminate harsh jittery road seams.

On Monday, our dealer installed our Fox 2.0 fronts (2" lift) & rears with Peak Suspension 1" rear spring spacer followed by an alignment. Since then, I have driven 240+ miles including several roads with known harsh seams, cracks, and bridge seams. The jarring harshness is pretty much gone. Some of those are now a dull cushioned thud. If you didn't hear that thud, you wouldn't notice the bump much at all.

Tires are E-Rated Toyo OC A/T3 LT275/70R18 which are 14 pounds heavier than the OEM Falken AT3WA 265/70R18. The extra weight contributes a bit to the clunkiness which I don't mind because I installed E-Rated A/T tires to reduce chances of rock damage.

It does still ride like a body-on-frame truck rather than an SUV ride.

It's still early, but so far our suspension upgrades are a big improvement without breaking the bank on extreme off-road suspension parts that we do not need.
