  1. Fox 2.5 Performance ELITE Shocks (Fronts) Installed Review. Making Progress on 2025 Off Road Hybrid Harsh Ride

Only as much as the Fox 2.5 valving is better than OEM. So, you be able to tell there are better shocks in the rear, but they don't solve the bounciness by themselves. It is a matter of proper valving to control the movement of the spring. The OME kit comes with rear lift springs correct? I...
  2. Fox 2.5 Performance ELITE Shocks (Fronts) Installed Review. Making Progress on 2025 Off Road Hybrid Harsh Ride

Like many others on this forum with various trims, I was disappointed with the harsh, jittery ride of my OR Hybrid. It started with lowering the tire pressure to 34 psi (it was delivered with them at 45 psi). Then I put on Fox 2.5 Performance shocks on the rear, which calmed down the rear axle...
  3. All New Fox 2.5 Performance series Coilovers & Rear Shocks Installed on 6th Gen 4runner- Disappointing

This may be a dumb question, but did you get it aligned afterwards? The toe would definitely change with that much lift and messed up toe can make bumps very harsh. Total toe should be zero, or very, very close to it.
  4. All New Fox 2.5 Performance series Coilovers & Rear Shocks Installed on 6th Gen 4runner- Disappointing

They don't have a tune yet for the Fox externally adjustable 2.5's on the 6G. I know because that's where I just got mine and they said they haven't had a 6th Gen in their shop yet. They just offer the Fox off-the-shelf tune and springs for now. I asked about softer springs and they made it...
  5. Aftermarket suspension options to improve ride quality (TRD ORP)

I really don't want that much lift and I'm really set on fully adjustable coilovers. The OME's have no external adjustment. The King external adjustment is really only a simple mid-speed adjustment, while the Fox DSC is a true Low and High speed compression adjustment. I can also adjust the...
  6. Aftermarket suspension options to improve ride quality (TRD ORP)

Well, that s**ks. I have the Fox 2.5 shocks in the rear and I was trying to decide what to do in the front. The more I drive this rig (25 Hybrid OR), the more I think the solution is going to have to be rather extreme. Softer springs in the rear, no more than 600 lb/in springs in the front and...
  7. OEM Bilstein shocks part numbers (red Bilsteins with remote reservoirs) from 2025+ TRD Off-Road 6th Gen

You will definitely notice a change with just getting rid of the rear OEM Bilstein shocks, but it won't solve the whole problem. From the factory , the 6th Gen Off Road has the worst possible ride - it is overdamped AND oversprung. By that I mean the springs are far too stiff and the fast...
  8. 2026 4Runner TRD Sport Dyno Results (Stock vs Tuned on 86 Octane)

I repeat. I'm not suggesting anybody use 93 octane in any SUV. The test idea was directed to the one person who says octane doesn't make a difference.
  9. 2026 4Runner TRD Sport Dyno Results (Stock vs Tuned on 86 Octane)

I'm not saying anybody should run 93 octane in their 4Runner. It was merely a suggestion to anyone who doubts the performance difference between low and high octane fuel in a modern turbocharged engine.
  10. 2026 4Runner TRD Sport Dyno Results (Stock vs Tuned on 86 Octane)

Which is exactly what every turbocharged engine made the last 15 years is - a high performance engine. They all have knock sensors, learning capabilities and intelligence to run on multiple octanes. So much so, that sanctioning bodies for auto racing that use STOCK turbo engines dictate the...
  11. OEM Bilstein shocks part numbers (red Bilsteins with remote reservoirs) from 2025+ TRD Off-Road 6th Gen

I know about a bridge in Jersey that I could sell you at a really good price. It's a great deal, trust me. But I couldn't, in good conscience, sell my 6G Red Bilsteins to anybody.
  12. OEM Bilstein shocks part numbers (red Bilsteins with remote reservoirs) from 2025+ TRD Off-Road 6th Gen

I agree. I really didn't want to resort to an aftermarket suspension just to make my already expensive truck have a decent ride on certain roads. The Fox 2.5 rear shocks were $347 each and I installed them myself. They have OEM-style isolation at the mounting points and a boot to protect the...
  13. OEM Bilstein shocks part numbers (red Bilsteins with remote reservoirs) from 2025+ TRD Off-Road 6th Gen

That is basically how I would describe the handling of the red Bilsteins on my ORH. On smooth highways and streets, it is very comfortable. Very Toyota-like. Nothing bad to say at all. Likewise, on slow off road trails I feel isolated from the bumps. It is when there are constant bumps that are...
  14. 2025 ORP harsh suspension

25 OR Hybrid here. Generally speaking, on smooth, flat roads, the ride is fine. Very solid and Toyota-like. There are some roads however, say, an asphalt road that is broken up or a concrete highway with expansion strips when that is definitely not the case. When I had my 5G OR, I didn't notice...
  15. What's the weight of the RV trailer you tow?

I tow a Sol Horizon with my 2025 Off Road Hybrid. Got the 6G specifically for towing the camper because as much as I loved it, my 5G Off Road was a wheezer when it came to towing. The weight of the Horizon is very close to your Eclipse and my 2025 tows it effortlessly. I know I have the hybrid...
  16. Aftermarket suspension options to improve ride quality (TRD ORP)

Lift the rear of the vehicle with a jack under the rear axle. I put a treated wood block between the jack pad and the axle housing. Support the frame on both sides, just in front of the trailing arm pivots. Then let the rear axle droop. You have to be high enough so that the tires aren't...
  17. OEM Bilstein shocks part numbers (red Bilsteins with remote reservoirs) from 2025+ TRD Off-Road 6th Gen

I just removed the rear Red Bilsteins from my hybrid OR and put on Fox 2.5 shocks. I think Bilsteins are great, but for whatever reason the damping behavior of the factory rear Bilsteins (and perhaps other 6th gen trim rear shocks) is very, very wrong. The car is totally different with the...
  18. Tips to soften suspension on Limited Non-Hybrid

FWIW, I just put the Fox 2.5 rear shocks (Fox P/N 987-24-058) on my OR Hybrid and it solved the issue that you and your wife are describing. Before the car was very jittery and uncomfortable on certain roads. Some people say "it's a truck - that's expected". I disagree. Yes, it's a truck, but...
  19. Aftermarket suspension options to improve ride quality (TRD ORP)

The springs dictate rear ride height, not shocks. Remember that in the rear, the shocks and springs are separate. Edit - If you see rear shocks saying that they are for 2" (for example) rear ride height, it just means they have a longer compressed length for vehicles that have had their ride...
  20. Aftermarket suspension options to improve ride quality (TRD ORP)

I got them from Poly Performance for $347 each with free shipping. Installation is pretty easy if you're comfortable jacking up a 4Runner high enough for the rear axle be at full droop. Good jack stands are a must.
