Heard there's a revision to the TSB with a revised new part:

04947-60140 - Fitting Kit, Disc Brake Front (Anti-rattle Spring)

The original TSB's part number for this was #04947-0C030.

That's the only difference in the revised TSB.
Welp. After a 4th visit to the dealer for my 6 month maintenance, I showed them this part and mentioned it was an update to the TSB they did. According to my dealer, this part (ending in x60140) does not fit a 2025 4Runner SR5 (lol?). They already did the "1st TSB repair" and that's all they are willing to do.

I showed them my video of the brake noise in reverse, and they shrugged and told me I have to drop off my 4Runner so they can recreate the noise.

Just incredible. Dropping it off Wednesday and anticipating to pick it up with another "shrug".

Is my dealer lying to me, or stupid? Who knows. I showed them my video of the brake noise in reverse, and they shrugged and told me I have to drop off my 4Runner so they can recreate the noise.

Hi @bharri17 , sounds like you plan to file an eClaim with NCDS over the brake squeal problem that we are all having? I am still waiting for my local dealer to get back to me after I brought my car back (9/4/25) for the same problem that had been fixed by the updated TSB on 8/12/25. They are able to recreate the problem but nothing they can do now but waiting for Toyota engineering's advise! Thanks for your info.

Today, 9/30/25, the squeal got much worse so I brought the car back to the same dealer that fixed the problem twice to no avail. This time, they had a suggested solution provided by Toyota TAS and fixed it as attached. So the annoying noise is gone at least for now and will keep you posted in a week or so. Cheers!

Sorry to say its a case by case basis. Either resurface rotors or replace rotors. The TSB would have had to be done already. Its so retarded that they just dont revise the TSB to include rotors. Sooner or later I believe they will. Until then this is how it is.

Took mine in yesterday for this issue, they were able to reproduce it there apparently and didn’t even want to see the 3 out 4 videos I took demonstrating the issue. Parts ordered, hopefully this sorts it for me or at least adds more data to troubleshooting the issue so other customers in the future don’t have to deal with this.

Interesting update. Dealer called me today and said they were able to successfully reproduce the noise, and they believe it is coming from the rear brake/rotors, not the front brakes which is what the TSB addressed. They are going to resurface the rotors on the rear brakes and do a few other things and call me again tomorrow.

I called my dealer to get this addressed, she warned me since it’s a TSB and not a recall, if they don’t find anything, I’m out the diagnostic fee of 279$ since it isn’t warranty related or something to that effect. Is anyone else getting this kind of BS? She said contact Toyota corporate directly so they produce the work order under warranty which will guarantee I don’t get charged

Are they doing this out of the goodness of their hearts? Charging you for it? Or essentially charging Toyota for it? Since it isn’t on the TSB verbatim

No, it was free and covered under the warranty.

They resurfaced the rear rotors today, so hopefully this fixes it. The guy told me if the noise comes back, they'll do the same on the fronts, free of course.

Made an appointment for our 5000 mile check up about 6 weeks prior to reaching 5000 which was a good guess, had 5010 when I took it in. Told the dealership to find the bulletin and order the parts. They replaced the front pads and whatever else it needed and no more squeal. Hopefully it lasts a long time.

It’s a bit BS they said you might be charged if they don’t find anything (since it can be demonstrated without doing more than backing the 4R up), but she’s right that it’s not a recall and not something that is affecting all owners. This issue we are describing is so obvious and easy to reproduce through, that if you have experiencing it there should be nothing to worry about on your end at all.

Take some videos at home showing the issue before you go just to be safe.

So, today's car manufacturer brake rotors are Not as robust as they were say 10 years ago. If part of their solution is to resurface (turn) the rotors both front and rear certainly that reduces the thickness of what is probably already marginal. Heat dissipation suffers and depending on how you drive you may find that familiar pulsating in the brake pedal (people refer to it as warped rotors) a lot sooner than you otherwise experience. I personally do not replace my rotors each time I replace brake pads and never have with any of our Toyotas but that may be changing with the 6th gen.

Curious to see if anyone that had their 4Runner on the QC holds has had the break squeal issue? its only been about a month but I wonder if they worked on this issue as well as the chin spoiler. Mine was on the hold and no issues so far but I only have 1200 miles
I had my on QC hold, didn’t have the issue while I was in my home state of AZ but took the vehicle on a roadtrip east and I had a lot of squeaking- especially in the morning. Made an appointment and I have it being looked at today but it’s not near as bad once I got back home to AZ. However knowing it has this issue I would like it corrected. Idk if they will be able to replicate it to replace though :/
