Not on my SR5. Hits the front edge of the skid plate. Not sure about other models. Can this skid plate co-exist with the air dam when installed?
Pics?Changed oil today at 1K. Following the oil change, the front skid plate was installed. Put the air dam in long-term storage. Much better.
Here are a couple of pics. One is the new plate, the other is a profile without an air dam. The air dam will not fit back on without some minor creative cutting and custom effort. I'm going to roll as is for a bit to see if there is any difference with or without dam. As far as gas mileage, I have low expectations in any 4Runner except my Gen 1 with the old 4 22RE.Pics?
I think that would look sweet if you can match the paint closely. Definitely something unique that you wouldn't see on anybody else's rig.I'm seriously considering painting the indented portion of TOYOTA in Heritage Blue, matching the exterior color. Is that completely stupid, or would it be a nice detail touch?

I want to order the Land Cruiser Skid Plate but also wonder about the gap between the bumper. Does the Land Cruiser Skid Plate protect the radiator? Or is the TRD Skid Plate better at doing that?I removed the air dam but I am worried about the radiator. I can see a gap between the bumper and the original skid plate. The Land Cruiser skid plate will protect the radiator? Or I have to re-install the air dam to protect it? (TRD SPORT PREMIUM) please help me to decide what to do, thank you
Michael - I would think the cheap air dam is, but it seems that will not be able to be installed once the skid plate is installed. I was just wondering if either skid plate offers any protection to the bottom of the radiator. Can you offer any opinion? FYI I really like what you did with the Land Cruiser Skid Plate. What is protecting your radiator now?
Assuming you go with the 250 LC skid I have, you can put the air dam back on, but it requires one of two different modifications. 1. The skid plate is squared on the ends upfront. You will note your current cover has the corners dog-eared. By using a hand grinder or any tool of your choice, you can cut the slight dog ear on the new square plate. 2. The squared portion of the plate comes into contact with the air dam at openings where the dog ear clears. You can trim the exact angle off the air dam opening, and the air dam will go on and off without problems.Michael - I would think the cheap air dam is, but it seems that will not be able to be installed once the skid plate is installed. Thought this was such a cool idea that I did it. Got the LC skid last week and put it on last night. Picked up some Heritage Blue touch up paint from a local dealer.I'm seriously considering painting the indented portion of TOYOTA in Heritage Blue, matching the exterior color.
