I just picked up an ORP and am trying to decide on one of the following tire replacement options:
  • Falken Wildpeak AT4W
  • BFG KO3
  • Toyo Open Country AT3
  • Nitto Ridge Grappler
  • MT Baja Boss
I'll likely go with a size of 275/70R18.

I just can't decide. Any thoughts?

Toyo R/T Pro 35/11.5/17. Absolutely love this tire. Aggressive enough to handle mud, rock but really no louder than the Ridge Grapplers I have on my 2500 Cummins. E load with a very strong sidewall but if you run them at 33psi on the street they’re pretty tame -you’re not gonna feel every ant you run over.

You’re never gonna be able to decide. Just go with the lightest one I guess.

I went with nitto terra grappler g3 in SL load. For me wet traction and quietness/comfort was more important and from the reviews it’s the best one. That’s not to say they are as comfortable as the factory tires. They are still a little more rough and tad bit louder. Just got them a day ago so still experimenting with it.

I did have the falkens on my 24 tundra on stock wheels E load. Those were very heavy but enjoyed them, they were surprisingly comfortable and not loud at all. Then again the tundra itself was more comfortable than the 4Runner so not really apple to apple comparison.

I am running a set of Toyo RT Trail in C Load and I like them. Balanced great with minimal weights and so far, are wearing evenly. I had ran a set of Baja Boss ATs on a Tacoma a while back and they weren't bad either, but they were louder than the Toyo.

I had that same list until I saw this video last week, and now the Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT is at the top. (for today) 275/70/18 SL

Realistically, I’m not doing much off-roading in Chicago, but I do need to pull the trigger soon. I bought the rims on sale before I had the tires figured out, so now they’re just sitting in the garage staring at me.

Thanks everyone for your input. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Wildpeaks as I think they are a fairly good all-around choice. I'd like to get a set of something installed within the week, so all of your opinions and photos are appreciated!

Yes they’re apparently the top dog now. They were close to 400$ a tire though when I checked and only come in E load for 285/70/17

Unsprung weight will affect both gas mileage and braking. Unless you are doing serious off roading don't go with an e rated tire. Even then I would look for a c rated tire. Try and get close to the weight of the stock tire. I went with Nitto G3. Very quiet and great on road performance. Be honest with yourself about how much and what kind of off roading you'll be doing.

Lots of input here. I like the Falken AT4W's on the Pro wheels like BonRunner's set up. Don't think you can go wrong with them. Sharp wheels with an offset that provides some tire bump plus tires that are a great value.
