Why is everyone allergic to the stock 18 TRD OR/ORP wheels?

Wow - so many responses.
As someone who swapped out the TRD ORP wheels and is running both the TRD PRO wheels (with OEM 265/70 Michelins) and the TRD Flat Black option wheels (with 285/70 Toyo ATIIIs) I will say that the chrome ring was out of place with the black trim everywhere else. Essentially, the only other piece of chrome was the logo badge - which I swapped out for the lighted black chrome version. And I have decided I really like the all black wheels - the little bit of red TRD on the center caps is a nice accent.

And I gifted my TRD ORP wheels to my son for his 2022 SR5 Premium - which they fit the look of well. Also gifted him triple peak rated 265/70 Toyo ATIIIs for his move to Colorado - they made it 2/3s across the country and up to Winter Park last weekend. (And to avoid "stolen valor" he replaced the TRD center caps with the black/silver "TOYOTA" caps to finish the look.:>)

Turns out that Spidertrax makes the perfect adapter:
SpiderTrax Toyota/Lexus 6 on 5-1/2" (M12) to 6 on 5-1/2" (M14) Blue Wheel Adaptor

Net offset with the +55 6G4R TRD OR wheels ends up at +23.5 vs the +15 of 6G4R SR5 Premium wheels. Close enough to work well. And no rub with the tires that are 1" bigger diameter. (And my son is thrilled with the look - and the bit of increase in ground clearaance)

I am keeping the stock wheels. I do not make changes for aesthetic reasons, at least for significant cost. I happen to prefer the silver border anyway over all black, as I think it has a less plain look. When my tires (not wheels) are worn enough to need replacement I will probably put on slightly better all terrain tires, but not extreme as even the stock ones are fine for the terrain where I go. Unless I decide I need it I have no interest in reducing mileage and increasing road noise!

I find it curious that so many people here seem to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars primarily for looks. Nothing wrong with that if you want and can, just not something I would do!

This the same boat I am. I'm meh on the Sport rim and hate the fact that it's a 20" rim and I'm a boomer! . I would have considered swapping them out for some of the 18-in ORP rims by checking Facebook marketplace people want $700 or $800 for the rims and for that kind of cash I probably just spring and get the Methods.

I'll chime in again! I agree totally, "form follows function".

My fifth gen Trail sport had these odd looking Wagon Wheel wheels! I had to find a better option, so I went with the method carbon black wheel, I think it was called the "grid" it was a good looking wheel, I chucked the dunlops as well, and went with Nitto Grapplers.

This is back in 2015 and the first thing I noticed was I lost an inch of ground clearance because the method Wheels had a wider bead distance. This gave the Nitto Tires a wider squattier stance, they looked really good and filled out the wheel wells just perfectly but I lost an inch of height.

So I spent probably $2,500 only to have less ground clearance. Lesson learned.

Yes down the road when these Michelin LTX Trail Wheels wear out I'll put on
275 70 18, maybe more aggressive or not. The Michelin LTX Trail tire suits my daily ground pounding driving with some Outback runs.

Top photo is first day of ownership. Those wheels are so Horrible. Bottom photo is after I changed wheels with the same tires. The color looks to have changed in the 2nd photo. How could have someone within Toyota got this so wrong? These wheels are so UGLY

My wife likes the silver ring, I'm...Not a fan. I don't hate them, but with my heritage blue, I think these will look better. They're sitting in my garage next to a Trailhunter grill just taunting me.

It seems that people cannot swap these wheels quick enough for the TRD Pro or aftermarket wheels.

Why no love for the stock TRD OR/ORP wheels?

I already had a look that I was going for before I bought the truck, but getting AT tires and semi beadlock wheels would help me a ton in the cases where I do go offroad.
