Whenever the vehicle sits idle with AC turned on, I keep experiencing this periodic vibration. My guess its the AC clutch turning on that caused this. Anyone else have this experience? Gemini tells me it could be the following.

1. Electronic Throttle Body / Idle Compensator Lag
2. A Glitch in the Variable Displacement / Mechanical Compressor
3. Defective Engine or Accessory Mounts

Yes. TBH this car has a lot more creaks and rattles than I care for, especially when the thing I'm comparing it to is a 2012 volkswagen GTI

I don't expect them to have super nice options or build quality, but I do expect less noise from both the interior components + drivetrain when compared to a car that's 14+ year old car

It is my biggest grip. I’ve never driven a vehicle where the AC compressor shakes the vehicle like it does

I've experienced this as well. I think it's actually the radiator fans making the radiator shake around in its mounts.

Either way, super annoying/embarrassing noise to be coming from a brand new vehicle... I cringe at drive thrus sometimes.

My 26 stumbles as well if you idle with the air conditioning on, not sure if this is a problem or if this is the way it is

Mine is quiet. Are you talking bout when the engine comes on and start charging the battery which is what i thought it's doing, but I could be wrong. As far as the AC system actually making noise, never had that it's nice and quiet.

Mine is quiet. I doubt there is a clutch--I suspect it is all electric, at least on my ORP hybrid model (it continues to cool when the hybrid system is on but gas engine is not running)--not sure about the gas model. I can hear it running when I get out and A/C is on but gas engine is not running, but it is not objectionable at all. Overall I have not heard any noticeable rattles/sounds at all.

Sounds like its more common in gas only models, I did set it in eco mode.

Idle vibration with a/c on is common in 4 cylinder vehicles because idle vibration is caused by engine torsional vibration which is 50% higher in a 4 cyl vs a 6 cylinder and a/c puts a big load on the engine and makes it work harder. The engine mounts that help isolate the vibration may well be stiffer in a 4Runner than a pure street vehicle because they have to deal with a very high amount of torque in 4Low plus they have to pass truck durability requirements...not just wimpy passenger car stuff.
